I have been dreaming about this for a while now, I'm so excited to see it finally come together...well, almost! In collaboration with photographer Lila Lavereau we are offering fun, Mini Vintage Portrait Sessions! These portraits are meant to capture the charm and nostalgia of old photographs. Come simply as you are and let the vintage inspired set and custom filters transform your image, or I can assist you by adding a statement vintage accessory or garment from the shop. ...Or you can go all out and come fully costumed if you like! You could also use this as an opportunity to commemorate your family history or a loved one by wearing a personal item that belonged to a relative or a family heirloom to create a sentimental photographic memento. I get to hear so many special memories and stories related to the antique and vintage items people have inherited, and I hope this brings those stories to life or helps create a special connection to the loved ones who's items we keep and cherish. Or maybe you just need to have a little fun by playing 'dress-up' and want a cool souvenir to show for it! Individuals, couples & small group options will be available when it is safe to do so. This is Emma! Last summer @emmapawluksewing starting mending vintage items for the shop and she informed me this month that we have now surpassed 100 items mended!! What an exciting realization and goal to reach during Earth Month! Emma has been a sewer in the wardrobe department @stratfest for almost 18 seasons, she has deigned her own garments, participated in @stratfordtrashionweek, and is also a past vintage seller herself. I knew she was the gal for the job. She love...s and appreciates vintage garments as much as I do and has the professional skills to keep these items going for years to come when they’ve needed some extra love (yes, we use the jumbo ikea bag to transport items back and forth). Here’s a lovely pic she took of her home studio and some recent vintage repairs she did. Thank you for working with me Emma! Honestly, it has been such a relief for me to be making a dent in the fairly large repair pile I’ve accumulated over the years and it is a source of pride knowing that we are helping to ensure that these items will not end up being tossed. Still here! A year ago, we had just finished renovating this beautiful, historic space at 34 Ontario Street to house an expanded version of my retail vision. LAST March I was so tired but so excited for the year ahead, to get started, to grow my business, try new things and connect with new people...Well, I think I managed to do all of those things in the last 12 months but not in the way I had imagined, not at all. A year later, I’m even more exhausted and uncertain, but I’m hopeful.
