The Highway 4 Kennedy Hill Safety Improvement Project closure schedule is attached for the period of March 30 to April 30, and May 1 to May 30, 2021. On-site ge...otechnical investigations determined that the safest time to blast is during daylight hours, to allow for safe and efficient removal of loose rock after each blast. Daytime blasting and scheduled road closures are expected to be required through spring 2021. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the Contractor thank drivers and residents for their patience. Once complete, the Highway 4 Kennedy Hill Safety Improvement Project will create a safer and more reliable connection between Port Alberni and the west coast of Vancouver Island. The time slots marked by C indicate that the highway is fully closed during this period. Time slots marked by T indicate that motorists are advised to arrive for the top of the hour. For all other time slots, expect single lane alternating traffic with up to 30 minute delays. Please drive with care and continue to watch for workers on the project. See more
