We're excited to share the news that Creation House, the last remaining home to be relocated from our main building on Sussex Avenue, has moved to a new, fully accessible home on Irmin Street, Burnaby. Lenten Morning of Prayer and Service of Forgiveness and Healing. A long-standing Lenten tradition in our L'Arche community, we took some time on Wednesday to pause and reflect on these two questions: "Is there someone I need to forgive and is there someone I need to ask forgiveness from?" Activities of the day included crafts - colouring and making felt sheep for a centrepiece in each L'Arche home, symbolizing that God holds us (the sheep) in the palm of His hands no matter what! #Lent2021 #Lent #larchev #larche #WeAllBelong

During Lent we are inviting everyone in our L'Arche community to think of an "Action of Love" connected to a weekly theme. First week's theme was "Giving". A group bought and gave coffee to people they met on the street. Second week's theme was "Encouragement & Appreciation". For our annual community retreat this year, we were able to get together as a community virtually - with lots of fun activities held separately in our homes. The theme was, "Living with Compassion - Learning to love like God". We prayed, baked cakes and cookies, coloured stones, went for a walk, and simply had a wonderful time together! #larche #larchegreatervancouver #weallbelong

L’Arche Greater Vancouver is sad to hear of the death of our friend and champion, Burnaby City Councillor Paul McDonell. Paul was a staunch supporter of L’Arche. He took every opportunity to introduce L’Arche and our mission to the people of Burnaby. He often shared about his long history with L’Arche through his Aunt Geraldine who was a founding member of our community. We are grateful for all that he did for L’Arche and for the people of Burnaby. Our thoughts and prayers are with the McDonell Family and with the Burnaby City Council. Part of the problem with the word 'disabilities' is that it immediately suggests an inability to see or hear or walk or do other things that many of us take for granted. But what of people who can't feel? Or talk about their feelings? Or manage their feelings in constructive ways? What of people who aren't able to form close and strong relationships? And people who cannot find fulfillment in their lives, or those who have lost hope, who live in disappointment and bitterness and find in life no joy, no love?
