COVID-19 Protocols and Policies as of January 2, 2021 As new information is released, these protocols may change with little notice. These changes may include, but are not limited to, my hours, clinic procedures, or subsequent closure(s). Patients are screened using the Shared Health COVID-19 screening tool at the time of each booking, appointment confirmation, and at arrival to the clinic. Parents attending with children under 16 or support persons will also be screened. If... a patient or attendant fails the screening, they will not be scheduled and will be directed to Health Links. If symptoms develop post-treatment, please let me know immediately. I will let patients know if myself or any family member develops symptoms. Masks are mandatory at all times in the clinic. Disposable masks are available in case you forget to bring your own. I will be wearing a mask and either safety glasses or a face shield, depending on the treatment. Gloves are not necessary unless I have a scrape/cut on my hand and liquid bandage will not suffice; for intraoral TMJ treatments; or for any contagious skin disease, lesion, severe acne, etc. My family will be maintaining social distancing. A strict cleaning and disinfecting protocol is in place using Simple Green d Pro 3 Plus, which is a Health Canada approved medical grade disinfectant. The waiting area is closed and patients must attend their appointment alone; I can no longer allow children or family members in the waiting area. Patients will not be allowed to wait inside prior to their appointment under any circumstance. Please plan according to the weather, etc. and be prepared to wait in your vehicle or outside. Parents of those under 16 and support persons are still welcome to attend and stay in the treatment room. When you arrive for your appointment: Please do not arrive early unless asked to, and remain outside or in your vehicle; I will meet you at the front door when I am ready for you. If I run a few minutes late, please be patient :) Put your mask on before you enter and only bring in necessary items Hands will be sanitized upon entering Cash/cheque is no longer accepted; contactless debit/credit card or etransfers are my preferred methods Cancellation Policy: My usual policy requires 24 hours notice to cancel or change your appointment, otherwise you will be charged a fee equal to your booked appointment. The same policy applies for missing your appointment. While I have always made exceptions for patient or close family illness or emergency, if you are feeling unwell for any reason, please reschedule even if it is less than 24 hours and the cancellation fee will be waived

Sure it can! It's definitely taken a 2200 hour course, been in hands-on practice for 10+ years, completes mandatory continuing education, reads up on the latest massage therapy research, keeps in contact with colleagues, AND is used correctly each and every time, right??!!

Continuing education is a huge part of being a Registered Massage Therapist. The Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba makes it so easy to meet, and exceed, the mandatory credits needed by offering numerous courses throughout the year. We have shifted to webinars and online courses over in person. I can hardly wait for the 7 courses I've booked from now until March. A good mix of business and skills.

Yesterday I had an aha moment during an assessment. Suddenly TOS popped into my head and the entire symptom picture, previous history and assessments all fell into place! I pulled out the trusty RMT Bible for verification and to brush up on what orthopedic tests I needed to do. RMTs are not qualified to diagnose, but testing gives us a good injury impression. If a diagnosis is needed, I refer out to to a Physiotherapist or Sports Medical Doctor.

2020 has been a year full of newness and change, and clinic wise, 2021 will follow suit. November and December will be the last months for booking 5:30 pm appointments. While I understand that this may be disappointing for some of you, this is what's best for my body, my family and my mental health. The doubled time between patients, phone screenings and phone tag, and the overall mental load COVID has brought have been taxing, and the longer days are something I can not sust...ain long term. Saturday appointments will still be available in 2021. In order to continue providing quality massage therapy treatments, my rates will be increasing. These changes will be in effect January 1st, 2021. My 2021 schedule book is filled out and ready for bookings!
