always. we've got options for y'all #vegetarian #vegan #glutenfree #sugarfree #nothingfried its super important to us! why ? the short answer: we love restaurants. when we aren't working in one, we loving eating in one. but when our first daughter was diagnosed with a rare disease, it came with a host of dietary/metabolic challenges. this made bringing her to many restaurants not possible. We vowed that when we open our restaurant we would make it a safe space for her and any others to enjoy wholesome food that works for them. it hasn't been easy, but having a 6 year old daughter that loves oysters and grey owl cheese makes it feel totally worth it

New BEET SALAD and this one’s dedicated to Dwayne Murray. 3 years ago when the lark was still under construction Dwayne and I talked about what we could do to make our menu fit into our goals of seasonality and sustainability. that spring Dwaye parcelled off an acre of his parents farm and began the lark garden. The Lark Garden is an organic vegetable project that uses companion planting and good ecological husbandry to produce delicious food while remediating the soi...ls for future harvests. the first two years were TOUGH. the constant weeding, drought, inconsistent temperature, etc. Still Dwayne persevered and all the hard work is paying off. this beet salad is made with beats from dwayne. potatoes on the steak dish, and tomatoes on the med plate are also fresh from the garden. This is our new chef Sam @beerchefsam We are so excited for everyone to get to know him and some of delicious food he is bringing to our menu. Those of you who know us, know we are suckers for a wholesome, sustainable, dynamic menu. If you dig that, we think you’ll love what Sam brings to the team. Milk- Fed Water Buffalo Tartare is making a brief but lovely appearance on the menu this week. For those of you who haven’t experienced it, Buffalo meat is a much leaner, dramatically healthier alternative to beef. It is significantly lower in fat and cholesterol. Water Buffalo is becoming recognized as a healthy alternative to beef as it is leaner with similar taste and texture to steak. Emily Southwind Prinzen. What a force. Emily came to work at the lark a fews days after we opened. She went on to lead the kitchen and has, as I am sure many of you will agree, created a reputation for herself as a chef to watch out for. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Besides being passionate about making delicious and wholesome food for our community, Emily is first and foremost dedicated to her family. Emily’s beloved mother and family have watched her grow, s...ucceed, and thrive from afar, from nearly half a day’s journey. So when an opportunity to move closer to home arrived, how could we possibly stand in her way. Between now and September 12th, book your table to say your goodbyes and to eat some old favourites and to try some new dishes from our new chef Sam. We are so proud of Emily for the work she has done with us and for continuing to pursue her and joy and happiness closer to home. Rest assured Emily’s gnocchi will continue to be served, just the way you like it ;) @anotheraspiringchef
