Platform Highlight: Brockville’s Neighbours Analyze the benefits of working closer; cost-sharing services and discussing mutual interests with neighbouring municipalities is in the city’s best interest. Although there has been some progress in a modest expansion of the city’s eastern border, continued discussion and negotiation should take place for the mutual benefit of taxpayers within and outside the city. Platform Highlight: Infrastructure & Long-Term Fiscal Planning The city’s last planning documents approved by council were a strategic plan in 2009 & a sustainability plan in 2012. These plans need to be reviewed and renewed. Long-term fiscal planning needs to be coordinated with strategic and sustainability planning; all of which must be transparent and shared publically. Priorities, once identified, need to demonstrate they are affordable (proper budget planning) and achie...vable. Our new council is encouraged to develop a mandate document that can be shared publically and focus our priorities for the next 4 years. Platform Highlight: Seniors Services Ensure programs & services are available for seniors. According to the 2016 census, 27% of the population in Brockville is over 65 years of age. It is time the city takes an inventory of services for seniors to ensure that this very important cohort is appropriately supported.
