Gum recession refers to the loss of gum tissue along the gum-line. Which can occur as a result of periodontal disease (such as gingivitis), or abrasive habits when it comes to taking care of your teeth (brushing). When this recession occurs, the root of the tooth becomes exposed, and discoloration between the surface and root of the tooth is more visible (see video as reference). The recessed tooth is now susceptible to decay on the surface of the tooth, and infections beneath and on the gum-line. Gum-line health is important for an overall healthy mouth! The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a minimally invasive option for treating gum recession, and is also scalpel and suture free. (However results may vary from patient to patient).
