Using the sight lines on the Stihl 362 to fit this spruce into a tight little yard. #arborist #tightspots #anytreeanywhere

Just one of the ways we recycle the wood chips from our tree removals and pruning, here is a 60’x110’ riding arena. Our goal is zero organic waste going to the landfill!

Did you know that Elm removals are allowed year-round? BUT... all wood must be chipped or taken to an approved disposal facility, AND stumps must be ground out to at least 10cm below ground. We’re coming up on the close of Elm pruning season. So, if you happened to have some elm firewood, or any prunings left around your yard or property, please dispose of them accordingly! Elm bark beetles are a declared pest under the APA, and All municipalities, counties and MD’s in the province of Alberta have the responsibility and authority to prevent and control DED under the APA. https://open.alberta.ca//f000b18b-f7d3-4795-a34a-e27804986

Tree surgery!! Well, we’ll give this a try and see if it makes it. This Little Maple failed during a wind storm and landed on the adjacent fence. With a combination of weight reduction pruning and a few bolts, we had it lifted and back in place in no time.

I love this little gem from the County of Minburn! Don’t forget reducing flooding as well... If you’re looking for help when planning a windrow, or need help restoring an old one, give us a call. It could be as easy as a consultation with a Certified Arborist to set you down the right path.

Some trees support themselves with tension wood, others with compression wood. This Elm tree pushes itself up and holds its branches in the air with compression wood. This ability to put wood growth on where it is necessary allows trees to develop long branches and trunks that can withstand windstorms, snow loads, and plenty of leaves come spring time!

When the barnyard animals want to join in on the video!!! Thanks geese... Winter Kill. It’s a normal occurrence on the prairies. Prune it out, and fertilize your roots system as soon as the ground thaws. Peter LaRue, LaRueTree Certified Arborists

Phototropism: the tendency of a plant or a fungus to grow towards the light. Gauge didn’t know the word, but he thought this Birch tree was cool enough to warrant a picture.

A little bit of Elm pruning today! And a picture of the unloading crew, putting the wood chips away for the night. Siberian elm has very unique buds and branching pattern, as seen in the silhouette photo.
