Have you been struggling to focus spiritually? Has your devotional time gotten a little dry? Are you feeling somewhat disconnected from God and those around yo...u? We are living in exceptional times in human history. New technologies connect us globally, making it so easy to communicate digitally with friends across the world. It also opens up unprecedented opportunities to spread the Gospel and the Advent message. It connects us around the world, and at the same speed it often seems to isolate us from real-life relationships around the corner. Our souls are strangely prisoner to our "smart" devices. We find ourselves easily enslaved by a new addiction. It's becoming increasingly difficult to sit down and wait and focus on one thing. Waiting has become a waste to us. There are many things to unlearn to develop a new appreciation for real-life experiences. We need to disconnect to reconnect with real life and with God. Maybe it's time for a "digital detox." Here are some practical ideas on how to pull the plug so that you can reconnect with God and with those around you in more profound and meaningful ways. #InfographicsGC

God's kingdom is made up of all sorts of helpers. There’s doctors, nurses, teachers, the volunteer canteen lady that used to sneak you extra sauce for whatever... savoury treat was on the lunch order menu for that day. But there’s a pretty awesome bunch of helpers that we’ve not yet wished a Happy Sabbath to corporately and we wanted to make them known. Support workers are a central and valuable part of society. There are countless people that go about their days with injuries, disabilities and are in need of company and assistance. Like the man who asked to be carried on His bed to Jesus, they too wish to be part of society and be connected. And they very well should. Support workers are the friends of those that are often forgotten and their ministry should not go unnoticed. They are patient, humble and generous people with hearts for service. You’ll see them visiting the lonely, assisting strangers with cooking and cleaning, and generally being around to help others live quality lives. So to the support workers, we pray that you lean into the Sabbath rest that God has gifted to you. May you use it to go deeper with Him so that this blessed 24 inspires and equips you to shine the other 144 hours of the week! #sabbath #happysabbath #supportworkers #rest

Overview The General Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (GC) is driven by a strong sense of mission. It is recognized that during these changing tim...es, there is a constant need to develop new ways to support the global church and communicate the love of Christ, the gospel, and the three angels’ messages in even more compelling ways. As the frontline workers to achieve this, committed Seventh-day Adventists with a passion for reaching others for the Kingdom of Heaven are needed, as freelance Digital Bible workers. Digital Bible workers utilize digital technologies to share the gospel and stimulate religious thought by creating and packaging content that addresses relevant needs/questions and encourages people to advance in their spiritual journey. Digital Bible workers build relationships with those in the broader community, online and offline, and usually within a specific geo-location territory, in order to create opportunities for one-on-one or small group Bible studies held in person or via digital tools. They work in partnership with a local church and pastor to evaluate the needs of a community and determine relevant opportunities for outreach and service. They mentor converts in their development of Christian character and commitment to faith as well as train and equip new members for active discipleship roles. This role encompasses a mix of digital discipleship and evangelism to bridge the gap between working in the digital mission field and achieving real-world impact. Position Summary: The Digital Bible Worker will implement a comprehensive, multi-channel digital evangelism strategy designed to meet the spiritual and social needs of primarily 1835 year old, collegiate, career-focused, single or married adult seekers. However other target groups will also be targeted based on demand, and identified needs in various physical and online communities. While engagement and relationship building will start in the digital space, the intent is to bring the target audience to an in-person experience. Ultimately, the goal of this position is to coach people towards a relationship with Jesus and involvement in the local churchempowering them to also be effective digital disciples. Essential Job Functions: - Work closely with a Team leader appointed by the General Conference Communications Department, to utilize digital technologies to achieve the organization’s goals. - With guidance and some training, implement a comprehensive, multi-channel digital evangelism strategy designed to build relationships with the local users of social media platforms. - Obtain Bible study interest contacts through digital engagements and promotions. Respond in a timely manner to all messages and questions posted online. - Use momentum from video devotionals and other developed online content to move seekers into an online Bible discussion/study, with interactive audience participation to further foster community engagement. The goal is to encourage open and honest conversations about topics and themes in the Bible, how we apply this to our lives and how it guides our priorities, and relationships with each other, the broader world, and God. - Provide guidance and support based on biblical principles to young adults in an honest and open manner. Speak to young people and other seekers who desire authenticity, while using the anonymity of the digital space to engage privately when needed. Plan regular (monthly), in-person meet-ups (advertised online, through partner churches, email, and social media), dependent on local conditions and restrictions, around Covid-19. - Work with the local church and General Conference initiatives to promote events. - Offer one-on-one Bible studies as requested, in person and digitally, using free video conference tools.
