Greetings from Nicaragua! - https://mailchi.mp/c7894149deca/greetings-from-nicaragua
A beautiful part of our role here in Nicaragua is being able to interact with men and engage them in different aspects of faith in Jesus. From agriculture to community events to beach fish fry and Bible study.....all for you Jesus!
We're feeling pretty happy after another week of encouraging and training in rural villages. La Semilla Ministries - planting for today and for eternity.
Coffee, ginger, tumeric, vanilla.....is there nothing that we can't produce here in Nicaragua?!
An afternoon in Buena Vista, La Conquista. Sharing agriculture, sharing about God.
Every year it is truly a joy to welcome new producers into our agriculture development programs. This week and next we'll train many more farmers in our pre-admission workshops.
Sharing good news about Jesus in Los Baltodanos.
Beans are sorted, cold room is looking full, so icecream seemed to be in order!
Quality control for seed is performed manually. Depending on quality, one gal can sort through 200lbs of beans daily. We appreciate their dedication working everyday in 30degree plus heat!
After a day in the sun, beans are packed up in sacks and put under cover for the night. On good days, we achieve 13% moisture and they're ready for the next phase. Bad drying day's mean 2 or 3 days to get moisture low enough
Harvest is complete in our part of Nicaragua. This week we went on a field tour to see some bean production under irrigation. Very rare here, but encouraging to see!
Enjoyed the Sunday service at Comunidad Oasis, together with our young agronomist José David Jirón. A great day in the countryside.
These days our focus is preparing bean seed. The first step after purchasing grain is to get it dry enough for long-term storage. One or two days on the drying patio normally does the trick.
A day at the office, receiving grain, reviewing accounts with producers.
After a difficult growing season impacted by hurricanes ETA and IOTA, the harvest of beans is coming in. Thankful for this life sustaining, nutritious little bean that fills our plates with "gallo pinto"
