Les Nouvelles à La Source d'Outillage 13.12.2020

Brady Milton Updated September 30 Former Manager Training and Personnel Development at Goodyear Tire (company) Do expensive tires actually work better than cheap ones?... Short answer YES. Reasons? Most tyres are good tyres. ie made well. I was in Goodyear manufacturing management and so know the difference. We made tyres only from full components. (the average car radial tyre had 52 components. liners shoulders inner wire tread sidewall etc etc.) Each had a proper length with slight overlap. overlaps never at the same spot as another. Every component a different compound of latex, rubber, oils and other chemicals for flex, grip strength and wear etc. Some tyres had tread for dry grip and some for wet but most average car tyres were a compromise of the two. Off road and SUV tyres are made mainly for cut resistance and wear. The more cut resistance the dearer the tyre but less lifetime. The softer the tread the more grip (in wet) but far less lifetime. Longer life = far less grip wet or dry. So you pay for what you get, or want. Then theres the badly made tyres where the components are not quality controlled, not made for their individual part in the tyre makeup and often made of patched together shorter bits and scraps that would otherwise go back into the mill for re-blending. When they put the steel bands into the rubber inner, any humidity in the room will allow rusting of the wire and the result is your tread blows off at 90mph. They might be a bargain when you buy them.
