We know her. Weepy exhaustion. Failure to find the elusive 'balance'... Looking for a moment for herself, but she's forgotten who 'she' is. Responsibilities, knocking. Goals, on hold. Dreams for the future, fading. We can feel the 'too much-ness' of this moment. And it hurts. And it's hard. And we can feel the 'not enough-ness' of this moment. And it's raw. And it's real. This feeling can be so isolating. It's the stuff no one prepares us for. And it's the shit no one shows. But we're shining a light on it. Because it's so very authentic. And it can be so powerfully connecting. These moments do not have to exist in the dark. Bring them here. Share them. Release them. Yes. We know her. We are her. And if you've felt it, you belong here too. We've been there. Have you? | Image @spiritysol |

That white coating on baby is called Vernix. Yes, it looks like baby is covered in cottage cheese/zinc oxide, BUT IT IS GOOD! It is made up of water, protein an...d fat. And 39% of the proteins have components of immunity and 29% have antimicrobial properties. I know it is tempting to want to bathe your baby and I promise there will be plenty of baths over the next 10 years, so LEAVE BABY BE! I don’t often take a stance on these types of things, but the benefits outweigh a clean baby! Nurses in the hospital will ask and you have the right to say that’s ok, we are going to bathe baby when we get home! #themoreyouknow #delayedbath #vernix See more

Thanks @Maa Jet for original post. Have you seen this image doing the rounds? Sadly, pretty as it is, it isn't accurate! This image is based on work done by Si...r Astley Cooper 160 years ago, and actually isn't all that representative of the work that he did either! If you are into sciency stuff you can read more here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1571528/ So why is it important to call this out? Because understanding how our breasts work is important, especially when we are using them for their primary purpose. Most women have less milk ducts than this, originally it is thought women had 22 ducts. Now we know it is around 9, some women have more, some less. This makes a massive difference to women who are considering things like breast surgery. Milk ducts are not arranged in a pretty flower shape, they are more like the intertwined roots of a tree. And they can even be up under your armpit! This is important because when breastfeeding it matters that we know we can get blocked ducts up under our armpit and therefore treat them. Women's bodies are amazing. We've been told all our lives the main function of our breasts is to be pretty but they can still be amazing WITHOUT being pretty like flowers. Accurate information matters Keep on boobing!
