We're live following the West Coast premiere of the documentary film "Last Song to Xenitia" at the 2017 Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, featuring a discussion ...between LAGFF Director of Culture and Education Katerina Zacharia and Thomas Scotes, son of the film's subject, folk poet Vasiliki. Thomas: "She understood for the first time that her grandmother was this little yia-yia but she was this woman with dreams and aspirations that she never got to accomplish... My mother carried that with her whole life... it's a tribute to these women that didn't get the chance."

Dear Friends of sublime Folk Songs and Folk Poetry, this book, you will find inspiration, beautiful love songs, songs of courage, songs of longing for one’s homeland while living on distant shores in Xenitia, songs of hope and songs that weep for those taken by charos (death). There are also poems and songs written by my dear folk-poet Yiayia, (grandmother) Vasiliki Scotes, and eloquent translations by my father, Thimas H. Scotes, from Greek into English (as well as outstanding historical context for each song/poem) of all 400 some songs and poems in this book of treasures entitled: A Weft of Memory, By Vasiliki Scotes and Thomas J. Scotes. Sharing this book of treasures with all who cherish Folk songs and poetry brings me great joy!
