I don't want to be an alarmist but what happens in the next few weeks will have a critical impact. Leadership is key at this time. I feel people need to make carefully researched decisions. I love calculated risk for innovation but I tend to favour mitigating risk heavily when it could be lethal. I would be interested in people's thoughts on this one. #leadership #coronavirus, #covid19

I was a bit skeptical of this author after reading a summary but after watching this webcast I really like a lot of her thoughts. I am sure some "fast-moving" organizations will be slightly allergic to some of the eastern thoughts such as breathing, but I have been a convert for many years now. Sitting with your team and seeing this and then having a conversation would be probably a worthwhile exercise. I loved her quote at the end re managers vs leaders. Funny story from Simon, but telling about how we use KPI's and especially around how we influence/manage people. It is important to be #mindful of what you are trying to influence with, and the 2nd point is, it is hard to see short term impact but trust your intentions (if you are executing) and look for the trend. When I work with the senior teams and ask how would they score the trust levels in the organization? It often catches them by surprise. They have to think about it. #Leadership follows so many financial KPI's daily. Yet, trust is the "elemental" base foundation in all aspects of business, staff retention, substantial deals success, #innovation, customer longevity, creativity, growth, #resiliency, operations, agility, efficiency, and best #talent acquisition. Often considered a "nice to have" instead of a top-line KPI and initiative in the "heat of war," (quarterly driven business) and does not get the consistent attention it deserves.#leadershipdevelopment #coaching

It always amazes me in business how we often practise on our #customers first. Professionals in sport, practise about 85% of time minimally and play 15%.
