Getting to know this little girl of ours over the past almost 5 months (whoa), has been the craziest ride of my life. It's been beautiful, chaotic, rewarding, exhausting, depleting, amazing and SO cool, among many other things. There are aspects of being a parent to an infant that are easier than I expected, and on the flip side, a lot of it is harder than I ever could have imagined. I went in having some ideas of what I would and wouldn't do and now I laugh at pregnant Laura thinking it would be that easy No matter how difficult this all is, it is 1000% worth it. She is worth more than anything this entire world has to offer - @cammakoj shortly after our Lily girl was born.

Well, I had my first shoot back after going on "mat leave" (this isn't it, this is from November). I've been asking myself if I'm ready for a couple of weeks now. Ready to leave Lily, to have my attentions divided, to have more responsibility, to have people other than my baby depending on me. I really wasn't sure and I'm still really not sure! But boy did it feel good to get out and do the thing I love again. I didn't even realize how much I missed it. It overwhelms me to know that the rest of my working life will be shared with and at times, dominated by parenthood, but I'm okay with that because I want them both also, I'm incredibly lucky to have a wonderful support system (thank you to the bestest Nana who took care of my baby chick today

One year ago today, on International Women's Day, I found out I was pregnant. I didn't know then what I would become capable of. What my body would bear, what I would be able to do in order to meet my baby, what I would mentally be able to handle with a new tiny human who depended on me for everything. For the first 30 years of my life I balanced a lot of hard feelings while attempting to push through personal barriers that would allow me to do the things I love. I put myself... out there time and time again in order to be a photographer. Through navigating this wild, difficult and beautiful life and career, I have met so many incredible women. Mothers, entrepreneurs, friends, daughters, boss ass working babes, leaders, extroverts, introverts. I have laughed with, admired and captured photos of these women. To my friends, my family and those I have met and photographed, Happy International Women's Day!! You are amazing. Women. Are. Amazing. #internationalwomensday

I still haven't posted all of the beautiful families I photographed in 2020! So here's one of them! I had a great time with these 5! Also, looking at these makes me long for warmer weather already.

Took a break from my current full time Mama gig to photograph these two special people! My cousin and his wife are expecting their little peanut so soon and I couldn't be more excited for them!

Like the rest of the world, I've got a lot of hope for 2021. It has completely STUNK that we had a baby almost 2 months ago and we have barely been able to go anywhere with her or introduce her to the important people in our lives. Her grandparents have hardly had a chance to spend time with her. I've tried to keep a positive attitude but it's hard not to be disappointed. Of course, 2021 will bring on all sorts new challenges for me as well. Balancing motherhood and photography is something I am simultaneously terrified and excited about. I've got too many thoughts on this to share on an Instagram post, so a blog post on the subject may be forthcoming. I've only shared one photo from this session and I don't know why because look at this beautiful family!!

What. A. Year. I can't say I hated 2020 because it brought me my daughter and I think that's the best thing to ever happen to me. I also had a truly lovely and productive summer and fall photographing so many amazing people and families. In March and April, I was sincerely worried about what the year would look like for my business (much like everyone else). I am beyond grateful to each and every one of the people who trusted me with photographing them amidst the craziness that was this year! As good as this year actually was, much like everyone else and their dog, I am super pumped to welcome 2021! Happy New Year to you all!

I just love these guys so much These two are seriously rockstar parents. Maybe it's because they have four children and are just pros at this point or maybe it's just because they are incredible people, but they are something to aspire to that's for sure!! Also.. they make the cutest babies

Alright, back to sharing beautiful families!! Okay I had the BEST time with this big, gorgeous family in the fall. It was so hard to pick 10 photos to share because there were so many adorable and hilarious moments that I caught in between the poses. I always hope when I'm photographing families that as they warm up, they will (almost) forget that I'm there. I want families to be goofy, have fun, and share all their ridiculous, even crass ways and inside jokes with each other. I want to capture them exactly as they are. These guys did so well at this. I think it's safe to say we had a ton of fun together. I know I did!
