YOLO! It's one of the easiest reasons to say f*%# it & eat whatever you want during a holiday. Amirite?! Remind yourself that it's not all or nothing. Its not a choice between every treat and NO treats. Look for a middle ground. Want more tips for managing this upcoming Easter weekend? Join my group where we'll be chatting and sharing strategies to eat AND enjoy ourselves this weekend. https://www.facebook.com/groups/372967903999160
One of my dietitian friends often says "What dietitians have to say isn't sexy". Is it true? Maybe. I mean this picture here is pretty un-sexy. But it's simple. And simple works. Read more on my latest blog about the simplicity of eating less but feeling full! https://www.lauravermander.com//eat-less-and-lose-weight-b
New Blog! Eat less, lose weight BUT feel full! It is possible, I swear. Read on to learn how.
Feeling hungry just thinking about the idea of "eating less" to lose weight? Me too. Fullness is one of the keys to weight loss success. What keeps you full? Protein + Fiber - my favourite dynamic duo. Stay tuned all week as I'm going to be dishing out how to stay full while "eating less". (note those air quotes ;) )
The snow is melting so we are trying to get in as much skiing as possible. Apres ski may be at the back of our car this year, but luckily it still involves snacks! My favourite car snack hack?....Bars! You'll probably always find me with a bar, they are quick & easy. check and check. #momlife #m#mombrain Not sure what kind of bar to get? I've got a cheatsheet for that - head over to my site and grab it now! (link in comments) What's your favourite bar?
Nutrition Hack: one of my favourites when I'm feeling overwhelmed (recently) is to simplify dinner meals while still keeping them balanced. How, you wonder?! Frozen foods. That's right, I love them. Frozen vegetables are a fave of mine! Throw them in a frying pan with a protein (chicken, edamame, chickpeas, tofu) and whip up a quick stir fry. Simple, easy, minimal brain power.
This week I am talking all about Willpower. Did you start off this month with a full tank of willpower to tackle your goals of eating healthier, exercising more and going to bed earlier? Have you gotten busy or stressed since the year started? I have! (um, global pandemic...) If you've suddenly found yourself scarfing down whatever you found in the fridge because you forgot to make and eat that healthy lunch you promised yourself - you are not alone! This doesn't make you ...weak or lacking in self-control. You've just put way too much faith in willpower. The whole concept of willpower is flawed, and I'm here hoping to change people's mindset on willpower and weight loss. All week I'm going to focus on things we can do instead of trying to rely on willpower. Head over to my instagram account to follow along - @laurav.weightlosscoach Shoot me a message if you've set a goal and already succumbed to real life - I can help you re-set and keep you accountable, because that's what coaches are for :)
We've all got a lot going on, especially right now. Amid lockdowns, shutdowns, school closures, bubbles and whatever else is going to be thrown our way... I generally get to the end of the week feeling like Multitasking is basically a moms middle name. We do it all, and we try to do it all at once. Just another reason to keep those goals we set small and SMART. It's hard to change. It's hard to lose weight. Let's not make the journey there a complete slog. Small and ...SMART wins this race! Planner for goal setting Coffee (cold.......#momlife) messy af house baby on the move Hit like if you are pretty pumped its Friyay!
Mondaysssss amirite?! In the weight loss world, Mondays often hold the place holder of "I'll start on Monday", "Diet starts on Monday" etc... This is how I feel about that Let's do a little mindshift on this Monday. Let's set a small (even tiny perhaps) goal today. Come down from the mountain and think smaller, nope smaller...nope even smaller. Too big goal: I want to eat healthier Smaller goal: I want to eat more vegetables... Even smaller goal: I want to eat more vegetables at dinner SMARTER goal: I will fill half of my plate with at least one vegetable at dinner on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week. There, doesn't that feel doable? Think it's too small? Well, ace this goal and then expand on it next week! Share in the comments below one small (tiny?!) goal you are going to set this week!
Heyyyyy there 2021!! Wow, have we been waiting for you. January carries a lot of weight for people (see what I did there?) - they put this pressure on the month and themselves to create a transformation. How about you give yourself some grace; enjoy the new year and I'll be putting out some ideas on how to set some small daily or weekly goals as we move through the month. ...
