Good News! As of 19 April, both branches of Laurentian Hills Library can still provide Curbside Delivery Service. Please call to request items you would like to borrow. GOOD NEWS ! As of Thursday, 11 February, both Chalk River and Point Alexander branches of Laurentian Hills Library will be return to a combination of Restricted Opening and Curbside Delivery. Chalk River schedule: Limited in-person access on Tuesday evening 6-8 pm. and Saturday morning 10-12 am. Curbside continues on Monday and Wednesday afternoons 1-3 pm.... Point Alexander schedule: Limited in-person access Monday to Thursday afternoons 1-3 pm. Curbside is also available Monday to Thursday. Closed Saturday morning. A limit of 2 patrons may enter the Branch to browse and borrow items. Calling ahead to book a time is recommended and returned items are to be put in the outside drop box. Hand cleaning, wearing of face masks and social-distancing is a requirement. Patrons are very welcome to continue borrowing items at both branches using the Curbside Service. NEW AT THE LIBRARY A popular Ontario Parks program has been renewed until December 2021. Both branches have free day-use passes which allow entrance for 1 vehicle and its occupants. Call the library for information or to place a reserve. Both branches have selections of DVDs from a rotating pool supplied by the Southern Ontario Library Service. These DVDs are available for loan and the lists may be viewed on the Library website at library.laurentianhills.ca. Please call with your requests.

The Point Alexander Branch has copies of Dave Thompson’s very funny book, With a Side Order of Smiles. Proceeds from the sale of the book go to Deep River and District Hospital, and the cost is $20. Call 613-584-2714 to reserve your copy.

Porch Pick-up Although Laurentian Hills Library is closed to the public for a while longer, you can borrow items by using Porch Pick-up, our own version of Curbside Delivery. Here is how to do it:... Investigate the titles on our NEW BOOKS list http://library.laurentianhills.ca/new%20books/, or search the online catalogue on the website https://laurentianhillspl.insigniails.com/Library/Home. You can request some of our many magazines or DVDs as well. Call the library and leave your list of requests and include your name and phone number. Chalk River Branch 613-589-2966 or Point Alexander Branch 613-584-2714 The items will be pulled from the shelves and packaged. When your order is ready you will be notified to pick it up from the porch. When you return your loans, please put them in the outside Book Return box. Restricted hours for both branches are Monday and Wednesday 1-3pm, Saturday 10am-12. Outside of those hours, please leave a message on the answering machine. There are many good books on the shelves, so please call.

CURBSIDE PICK-UP Good news! Laurentian Hills Library will be offering Porch Pickup, our own version of Take Out starting officially July 6 (only one more week). In the meantime, we will be making preparations. The first step is to get back all the items out on loan. Starting Monday 29 June, please return those items by putting them in the outside Book Return box. Everything will be isolated to ensure no virus survives.... How to get more books or DVDs: 1. Search the online catalogue on the website to find some good titles. Reserve them using your card number. Assuming the internet connection holds, there will be a short story time on our Facebook page this evening, from 6:30 to 7:00 pm. If the internet cuts out again, the next story time will be at the usual time, Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
