Hi everyone... my friend Heather McBriarty is about to publish her first book. She decided to go the self-publishing route and could really use some advance orders to get the ball rolling. I've been following her journey on this project which is a non-fiction work based on letters from the front. You can order your copy (or copies) here. PS Please share this... let's see if we can get her lots of likes and pre-orders.
Doug Ford... you suck!
Some recipes I created for BACKPACKER last year.
It's #BannedBooksWeek and we love this quote from Deborah Ellis about what Banned Books Week is about.
I hung up my hiking boots for a while to play around on a vintage sailboata 31' ketch that was made in Oakville, Ontario in 1967. Her name is Azura. While my blog at www.sailingazura.com is hopelessly behind, I will be updating it over the Fall and sharing all of our summer adventures with my readers. I've also been working on a book idea that involves sailing, but more about that later.
Back in August I was asked by AIM Adventure (BACKPACKER Magazine) to create 50 recipes to enhance their backcountry cooking course. It was a great challenge. At some point I will share a few of the recipes on A Fork in the Trail's FB page to give you a preview. Now... back to finishing my own manuscript.

Whether you want healthy kids or a healthy economy, you won't have either if there isn't a healthy Earth.
I realize this isn't in Canada but for those of you who hike south of the border...
This candy bar inspired cocoa drink is a yummy alternative to dessert on a cool evening.
I love this part... Interviewer: Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without and why? Alton: A Swiss Army knife because this is still a physical world and your phone can’t open a wine bottle.
