We built our dog park for dogs like Rocky. This note made my day. "Just wanted to express to you how much Rocky enjoyed playing in the snow at your facility t...oday! He is dog selective and has very little to no recall. So finding a park that will allow for him is almost impossible! You have now changed that for us. They ran around the hay bails, chasing each other for almost the full hour! They absolutely loved it. We thought for sure, with the cold weather, that our visit would be cut short. But I swear they could have kept going. They have since been curled up in bed on the heated blanket Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity, you have changed my dogs life for ever! We will definitely be back soon." See more

Through no fault of his own Ghost VH has come back to me. He would do great with an active home. Send me a message to hear more about him. He is altered a few years old and out of Dragon and Piper.

This is absolutely perfect! Fear never promotes an engaged partnership which is what we should ALL be seeking to develop.

There are four potential quadrants that define training responses. Positive - in which we add something in response to an offered behaviour. Negative - in which case we remove something in response to an offered behaviour. We can either reward (reinforce) or punish. Modern training tends to avoid punishment as it so often leads to.avoidance and tends to undermine the relationship between trainer and trainee. The vast majority of trainers today work primarily with reward based... systems. We recognize that dogs, just like their owners, vastly prefer reward to punishment. There are, however, some key factors we often overlook or simply forget. A reward is only ever defined as such by the recipient, never by the provider. In other words, it does not matter how wonderful a reward the TRAINER thinks something is, it’s only importance is how it is viewed by the dog. Reward frequency is linked tightly to engagement. In other words small rewards given often are far superior to a huge reward given rarely. It doesn’t matter how much your ‘ average monthly income ‘ may be. If you have to work for a year before you see the payment you will probably not stay focused on the task There are some key factors we often overlook or simply forget. Even the most cooperative dogs cannot obey if they do not understand your command. Initially, the energy level and stimulus is ONLY that which the handler / trainer brings. So, be prepared to be enthusiastic and high energy, have a clear expectation and loads of patience.. See more

I am interested in looking for feedback. When looking for a dog trainer what are your most important considerations?
