Anxiety Coaching vs. Counseling What does an Anxiety Coach do? Helps client envision a life without anxiety or other obstacles to emotional well-being... Does not work with or attempt to treat mental illness Views mental health as an issue needing life goal clarification & identification Provides support, guidance, mindset modification & life skill training How does an Anxiety Coach work? Identify, clarify & define goals Create a healing plan using client's skills & strengths to reach goals Hold client accountable for progress & achievement of those goals Provide structure, inspiration, guidance, motivation & support Differences Between Anxiety Coaching & Counseling: Coaches remain in the present, touch on the past occasionally & look to the future vs. Counselors often use the past to deal with obstacles & issues Coaches work with people who choose to work with a coach vs. Counselors frequently work with clients who have been advised they need therapy or counseling Coaches generally work with people over a few months vs. Counselors may take years working with someone who is experiencing serious mental disorders Coaches work to improve healthy individuals (you are not broken!) vs. Counselors may start with the belief there is something "wrong" with you Coaches pursue a more holistic approach to wellbeing vs. Counselors usually work a specific problem There are absolutely differences as well as overlap when it comes to anxiety coaching & counseling. Both can coexist together to help clients overcome mental health challenges & achieve their goals. What do you feel about this description? Comment below I would love to hear your thoughts!
