Just a friendly reminder!!
Hey Lavington!! We have noticed that there has been lots of questions being asked about this years Halloween fire works and thought we should let you know what is going on. Due to provincial regulations of group sizes and proper social distancing the Lavington Fire Hall and the District of Coldstream have come to the very difficult decision to cancel this years show. It’s our number one priority to help keep the community safe and health. All funds that have been donated will be used for next years show. We will be back bigger and better.
It’s that time of year again!!! Lavington Fire Rescue will be coming around Lavington collecting donations for the Lumby food bank Wednesday Oct 7 starting at 6. Please have your bagged food at the end of your drive. See you tomorrow night!!!
REMINDER: Effective at noon today, the following activities will be prohibited throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre: * Category 2 open fires; * Category 3 open f...ires; * the use of fireworks; * the use of sky lanterns; * the use of binary exploding targets; and * the use of burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description except when used for a campfire as defined by the Wildfire Regulation. This prohibition applies to all public and private land, unless specified otherwise by a local bylaw. While campfires are still permitted, please ensure you check with your local government before lighting a fire to ensure there is no ban in your area. For more details, read the full information bulletin: http://ow.ly/cZ5W30r1u4G For information about prohibitions in effect across B.C., visit: http://ow.ly/k7Sc30r1uJ8
The BC Wildfire Service is continuing to receive and monitor reports of smoke and haze in the Okanagan and Shuswap areas. We believe this could be the result of... a southern air mass flowing through the region that is bringing smoke north from fires down in the United States. Additionally, Category 2 open burning has been permitted in the Kamloops Fire Centre as of noon on Friday, June 19, 2020, which could also be attributed to smoke in the area if individuals are igniting a fire. Air tankers are currently conducting practice drops west of Chase, as well as south of Princeton. These are not related to any visible smoke or haze and are a practice exercise. There are currently no active wildfires in these areas. We thank the public for their continued diligence in reporting fires. To report a wildfire call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on a cell phone.
