March 8 is International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. We can all #ChooseToChallenge the status quo. Action must be taken to ensure that women have the opportunity to play a full role in shaping the pivotal decisions being made globally right now as countries respond to and recover from the COVID-19 Pandemic. To do this, we must break down the historical, cultural, and socio-economic barriers that pr...event women from fully participatingin the decision-making process. For instance, across the world, women remain concentrated in the lowest-paying jobs, many in extremely vulnerable forms of employment. Women are also about twice as likely to lose their jobs during the COVID-19 crisis compared to men. Despite these barriers, women are at the forefront of diverse and inclusive movements for social change. At LAWS, we seek to empower our students and teach them about underlying biases in hopes of aiding in the development of a more equal, and inclusive future. From challenge comes change! See more

Recent research by the Association of American Law Schools shows that more than half of law students report they first considered going to law school before they reached postsecondary. LAWS supports over 1,000 high school youth annually with the generous support of our partners and funders. We are committed to access to legal education and equity, diversity and inclusion in the justice sector.
