Beloved Community, Today we are reminded of the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice."... Let us all continue the work of helping the arc bend. We will keep the family of George Floyd, and families of all the lives that have been tragically lost, in our prayers. Please take a second and read this reflection from Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot here: https://conta.cc/2QKugCV Blessings and peace...

Praise for "Gathered for Preaching": "'Gathered for Preaching' is the latest example of Ross Bartlett's clear, purposeful communication... This book should be i...n the hands of every preacher student, lay, or ordered, beginner or experienced. Attention: Crossways Teachers and Presenters! I continue to receive inquiries from people wanting to know if there are examples of congregations, pastors, or la...y leaders who are presenting Crossways materials online either through YouTube, Zoom, or some other electronic platform. I’ve been directing people to check-out examples that have been shared with me, but I thought I would extend that question out to all of you. If your congregation has been recording or streaming study sessions online, or if you have done Crossways training sessions in an electronic format I love to hear about your experience! I think it would be very helpful to collect some current examples of Harry Wendt’s materials being used in action so that people already teaching courses could model what they look like and give others some ideas on how they might go about leading Crossways in their own local ministry. Your videos or recordings don’t have to be in a polished, professional form. Nor do they need to follow some pre-approved format. All I’m looking for are people willing to serve as a model for others. If you are willing to do so, please send me links to classes or presentations and let me know if you would be willing to share those links with others. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] Rev. Dr. Steven E. King Sola Publishing

Congratulations to Emmanuel College's William S. Kervin, Associate Professor of Public Worship, on the publication of his chapter The Lord’s Supper in The Unit...ed Church of Canada in "Sacrum Convivium!" Kervin on his contribution: "My chapter traces the sources and development of eucharistic prayers, their language and theology, from union (1925) to Celebrate God’s Presence (2000), considered in relation to classic and contemporary ecumenical liturgical and theological categories. It is significant to have our United Church material included in this definitive encyclopedia of liturgical textsa great opportunity to share and contribute our liturgically progressive material with the wider ecumenical community of Christian faith." Over a decade in the making and involving extensive international scholarly collaboration, "Sacrum Convivium" is the first of a two-volume definitive reference collection of eucharistic rites in churches of the Reformed traditions, featuring comprehensive commentaries examining their background, sources and characteristic features. It continues the work begun with "Prex Eucharistica, Vol. I (1938) and Vol. II (1978) and Coena Domini, Vol. I (1983) and Vol. II (2005)." Nota bene: The Lord’s Supper in The United Church of Canada, by William S. Kervin, pp. 485-517. https://buff.ly/3ea8ErS

Hey, folks - the next installment of my series on Karl Barth's Göttingen Dogmatics is now available for your listening pleasure. 4: Man and His Question Yeah, I know... Anyway, here's a taste: "Theology shouldn't be Christian elevator music. And if it is, you're doing it wrong."
