I am reading a book entitled "Hurt People Hurt People" by Dr. Sandra D. Wilson. In essence she is saying that hurt people hurt people, and we have all been hurt at some point in our lives. That hurt causes us to become defensive and self protective. We put up safety walls and may retaliate by lashing out at others. Hurting, unless we break the cycle, can become a vicious cycle. A Chinese proverb says "if we don't change our direction, we are apt to end up where we are headed". May God help us to identify the hurt, face the truth, heal and change our lives around.

I spent the weekend at a women's retreat in Red Deer, Alberta. The theme was "All the King's Daughters". We were reminded that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that God does not make junk. Our standard of beauty should not be based on what society tells us. God made us in His image and we are loved. We are all unique and precious. Don't believe the lies the enemy tells you. Your circumstances do not define who you are. I speak life into you today...you are beautiful, smart, talented, powerful, cherished, loveable and one of a kind. Look in the mirror, believe it and claim it. When He was on the cross, you were on His mind. That's LOVE.

It saddens me that some people view fellow human beings as things they can use and toss aside. Individuals are devalued not because of who they are but what they represent. I just stopped by to tell you that you are a person of worth, a somebody. Don't let what is happening around you paralyze you. Live life to its fullest. Take a deep breath, let your hair down and just be!

I am sitting here thinking about life. 2017 has just begun and already many of my friends have lost loved ones. Young and old; death is no respecter of persons. I am thankful to have had another birthday in December 2016. I am reminded daily about how fragile life is. So I am committed to living the best life possible with each day that I am given. I know I will mess up at times but I will not let that get me down. I hope that you will strive to do the same. If you need someone to walk along side of you just let me know. Two are better than one on this journey we call life. Ready, get set, on your mark, go!

Happy Friday. For some of you this is a great day as you reflect on the happenings of the week and the things you have accomplished. You will embrace this day with energy, counting your blessings. For others this might be a day of dread. It has been a trying week and you feel like you were on the rough side of the mountain. You will drag through today hoping the weekend will be better. Life can be hard but don't let the challenges of this life weigh you down. Need a boost? Someone to bounce things off of? Look no further. Allow me to come alongside you on your journey. How did I get here? That was the title of a sermon delivered this weekend by Pastor Ron Sidney. That is a very powerful question. We all make choices in life. Some good. Others not so good. I think we tend to ask that question more often when something turns out bad; relationship, finances, job, health etc. Regardless as to how we got where we are from a negative perspective, we should purpose in our hearts not to stay there. If staying in the negative place is not an option, then we will be inclined to make a change. Don't be too proud to admit that you are "stuck" and need help to pull yourself out. You are not alone.

I don't know about you, but it seems to me that life is getting harder and harder. Our past prosperity gives us hope for a brighter future. The word for today is ... do not be discouraged. Don't worry about tomorrow but count the blessings of today. An attitude of gratitude will serve you well. Need someone to talk to?
