Sarah Mushtaq brings people together. An experienced co-ordinator, marketer, and communicator, Sarah helps public and private administrations build diversity, implement inclusive practices, and nurture meaningful organizational relationships. In her young career, Sarah’s worked with Windsor Regional Hospital and sat on the City of Windsor Diversity Committee among many other boards. She is an accomplished public speaker and panellist and a contributor to CBC Windsor and the Windsor Star. At UWindsor, Sarah alloyed an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree in science and policy to graduate studies in marketing, strategy, and project management. She’d love to work together. Andrew Knack currently serves as the council representative on the Accessibility Advisory Committee, City of Edmonton Youth Council and Edmonton Transit System Advisory Board. He is responsible for four council Initiatives: NextGen, Seniors, Public Engagement and Transportation Innovation. Knack also sits on the Edmonton Public Library Board of Trustees and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) board of directors as vice president for Edmonton. Liz has extensive community and volunteering work including: - As a parent in McCauley, she helped raise $1 million to build Little Italy’s Giovanni Caboto Park, and was involved in the popular soccer program. - Serving on the board of Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues representing 13 community leagues working to build engaging and connected neighbourhoods. - Most recently sitting on the Alberta Avenue Community League board, co-leading the park naming project which wi...ll honour missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. Liz and her husband Geoff have raised three daughters in the McCauley and Alberta Avenue neighbourhoods of Ward Métis. She says her daughters are her best teachers, but also knows that as a Councillor, the people of Ward Métis will become her primary resource to inform her actions and her public service. Liz believes that, if we stop and listen and pay attention to what our community is saying, we will discover we have opportunities to build bridges of connection and understanding. Liz John-West is committed to creating a just and kind community where quality of life exists for all. Shalini Sinha is the current Chair of Edmonton’s Anti-Racism Advisory Committee. She is a long-time Consultant in the area of Anti-Racism and Diversity, providing expert knowledge and training for large organizations, governments and community. She is also an entrepreneur providing services vision and mission driven entrepreneurs and creating entrepreneur communities. As an academic she researched and taught on the intersections of gender and racism. Strangely, she is also an experienced media broadcaster and columnist. She has been a climate and social justice activist since her teens. She loves the land and all the weather of Alberta, and is a fan of stand-up comedy. She joins us to talk about the recent attacks on Black Muslim women.
