LCHS Animal Clinic 18.11.2020

November 11th is a day to remember the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. However, as we often forget about the hundreds of thousands of animals who also served alongside their human comrades. Dogs were used as messengers, medical assistants, bomb detectors and for search and rescue. Horses and mules carried mounted troops (Canada supplied 50,000 horses for the South African War), hauled field guns and carried supplies and artillery. Carrier p...igeons used their incredible sense of direction to deliver messages across enemy lines, flying up to 100 km/hr. Cats carried messages onto the battlefield and were kept as mascots and pets to boost morale. Lest we forget.
