What is OT ? Occupational therapy is a type of health care that helps to solve the problems that interfere with a person’s ability to do the things that are important to them. https://www.caot.ca/site/aboutot/whatisot?nav=sidebar

Occupational Therapists don’t just address the injury that has already occurred, we also focus on preventing further injury. In this article prepared by Lesya for Caregiver Omnimedia Inc. she discusses fall prevention #OTMonth #ValueOfOT #LDOT #FallPrevention #AgingInPlace

September 30th is Rowan’s Law Day. Today we remember the life of Rowan Stringer who passed away due to second impact syndrome during a Rugby game. We honour her by raising awareness and educating others on the severity of concussions! For every repost or story shared with @headsupcan tagged will result in a $0.15 donation to the collaborative multi-media experience based concussion education project with the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation and the Ontario Brain Injury Association #RowansLawDay #Concussion #ConcussionAwareness #BraininjuryAwareness @ontariobia @ontneurotrauma

To all of our clients and contacts: Please be advised that we will be migrating our email server on Friday July 24, 2020 at 3 pm. While we expect that this will be a seamless transition, there may be a delay in our receiving emails at that time. We have been experiencing unprecedented email disruption over the last few weeks, but are confident that our move to a new provider will solve these issues. If you have noticed a delay or disruption in contacting the office via email, we apologize, and look forward to a return to normal service.

This is a great step, but if you want to avoid LTC for you or your loved ones, ASK US HOW. LDOT Services has Occupational Therapists that can assess you or your loved ones to help reduce the risk of falls, one of the main reasons seniors end up in LTC. The American Geriatric Society(AGS) has fall Prevention Guides that we follow. They are based on a meta analysis of the best research. In short, an assessment should be done for someone at risk by a regulated health professiona...l because there are 10's of reasons that people fall - not just losing balance or weakness. This is not the time for an APP. Also, home modifications were an "A" rated (highest rating) recommendation by the AGS. Nothing major, nothing crazy, just look after the bathroom and entrance exit - this is where most falls occur. If you need help finding a contractor, go to the CHBA (Canadian Home Builders Association) chapter in your area CHBA.ca to find qualified renovator contractors. And, if you need an Occupational Therapist, or want more information, give us a call at 905-481-1122 See more

Thank you doctor- this is about education, and educating adults specifically, who don’t do things just because you tell them to. They need a context from their own life experience and often proof. But most of all, they need to learn from the right people, people who have knowledge, experience and most of all qualifications. The media has not done a great job at getting the message across using adult learning principles. They have not brought people in who explain the why’s and the what for’s.. many people in my own family did not know that there is a difference between an oxygen mask and a respirator- they are not stupid people, it is just not their area of expertise, or they have not had an experience.. so, thank you, thank you for this, but please be patient and show kindness all of you who read this. We are all in it together.

We have a LDOT family member that has made over a thousand masks to donate to anybody that has been working during the pandemic. Now that the city is contemplating making them mandatory, many are wondering how effective masks are..https://phys.org/news/2020-06-mask-materials-droplets.html
