While in Africa, ENJOY amazing home cooking. You know, I never liked or ate fish, unless it was the type that was covered in tons of batter from a box and cove...red in tons of tartar sauce in order to hide the taste of the fish. Here is what you may not know in my experience on a journey in QENP. I had the blessings of meeting a wonderful gentleman while in Maghinga, Uganda A fellow Tourguide, Denis, who lent me his phone charger (as I was having some difficulties with my own) And learned of the wonderful work that he is doing in regards to charity through Safari work as I am doing as well. Needless to say, obviously, we connected. He extended an invite to my staff and I to stay at a location of his in QENP in an area just off a small village along the lake but not only did he extend this offer he also extended an offer on our way there to stop by another location that is in the process of being built to have a wonderful meal cooked by the architect and builder his wife living on site. I really didn’t realize he was really serious because when we arrived at the area there was nothing but partly built walls and I didn’t really see anywhere where a family could be living except for a lot of warthogs I spent a great deal amusing myself with. There was however what resembled a picnic table under a covered area in which we sat to rest and then came some dishes of food to which I was very grateful and realized this was for real. The dishes of food all had covers and as a gentleman left and left us to enjoy our meal, as I pull off the cover from my plate I see a huge fish with head and that had been barbequed on open fire and as I turned my head around realizing that we were sitting and situated on the edge of a lake. Since I am someone who detests actual fish I looked at my guys with horror, gratefulness and guilt and said, oh my gosh guys what do I do? I hate fish and I can’t eat this I will be sick, so what do I do just pick at it with my fork and give it to you guys to eat and put the bones back on my plate to make it look like I ate it? I feel bad because I’m so grateful and I can’t be rude and hurt their feelings? At that exact moment I took the smallest little smidge of fish you could possibly imagine and placed it in my mouth thinking the least I could do is try it. S U R P R I S E!!!! It was the best damn thing I’ve ever eaten and tasted like chicken, better than chicken and I ate the entire fish and never left or gave any to my guys, mind you they had their own. This fish has been caught straight out of the lake and barbecued. It was so amazing that I kid you not I tried to get and eat fish as often as I possibly could throughout the safari travels of Africa. Some of the best amazing meals I’ve ever had were while in Uganda, Africa!

RUSHAGA SECTOR Rushaga region is located in the southern section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is located in Kisoro District together with Nkuringo R...egion. It has several gorilla families which include Nshongi, Mishaya, Busingye, Kahungye and Bweza. The Rushaga sector boasts the highest number of gorilla families and lies between Kabale and Nkuringo coming from either Ruhija or Kampala. The region is dominated by high hills and because of this, habituated gorilla families have kept on separating and subdividing to take up different hills in the region. Because of these hills, tourists who trek gorillas from Rushaga tend to enjoy great scenic views and at some points, you can as well see the Virunga ranges in Rwanda and Uganda that include Mgahinga, Muhavura, Sabinyo, Karusimbi, and Bisoke among others. There is Lake Mutanda which is one of the only two lava damned lakes in Uganda. You can enjoy a canoe ride on the lake before or after your gorilla trek.

By Sarah Witman 2 May 2017 For centuries, nature enthusiasts around the world have hosted events to plant and care for trees. At the first U.S. Arbor Day, held... in 1872, Nebraska residents planted an estimated 1 million trees. In more recent years, some groups have called for reforestation (planting trees in areas where they had formerly grown but were cut down, burned, or otherwise destroyed) and afforestation (planting trees in areas where they have not historically grown, such as in grasslands) with a new goal in mind: to help mitigate climate change. When a tree takes in carbon from the atmosphere, it stores it throughout its lifetime through a process called carbon sequestration. The surrounding soil can sequester carbon for even longer periods, for hundreds, sometimes thousands, of years. by Christinea Carriera Studies have shown that it would be more beneficial to plant trees in the low-latitude areas closer to the equator. Where does the equator run? The equator passes through 13 countries: Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Sao Tome & Principe, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, UGANDA, Kenya, Somalia, Maldives, Indonesia and Kiribati. Where do we plant trees? In Uganda, one of the 13 countries in which the equator runs through. Ask how to plant trees in Uganda.
