Crew installing the @tritiumusa #DCFC units in Squamish. This is paired to the #OCPP @swtchenergy network. Within the last 7 months, we had ZERO downtime. Uptime is the most important for EV drivers trusting that the charging station will be working when arriving on site with an empty battery. #squamish #evcharging #asset #transportation #seatosky #vancouver #realestate #dcfastcharger
Not quite finished yet as we need bollards and signs, but nice looking #EVBOX setup. This system is working on Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) allowing future proofing and flexibility to the site owner avoiding vendor lock-in.
Completed the last few load sharing settings this week before residents enter their new homes. Load sharing can be achieved in many ways whether it’s using wireless or wired system. It can be done from sharing a circuit, a panel, at the house meter using dynamic load management or using a smart panel. There is a solution for every project but no single manufacturer can do it all. Reaching out for advice before doing the electrical design saved a lot of money to many development companies.
LeadingAhead Energy Inc. is proud to announce the completion of the Squamish, BC DC Fast Charger project and it is now open to the public. Yesterday, we commissioned 2 units, tripling the DCFC capacity in Squamish which was well needed in the Sea-to-Sky corridor. The project features a level concrete slab for handicap access which is lacking on most DCFC sites. The two @tritiumusa chargers also offer lower cable access, making it reachable from a wheelchair. An Open Charge Po...int Protocol (OCPP) solution using the @swtchenergy network has been selected for custom features and flexibility avoiding vendor lock-in In addition, the electrical kiosk has been placed further out for better use of space and ergonomics. These charging stations will remain free to use for a couple of months. @naturalresourcescanada #evcharging #Squamish #charginginfrastructure #evchargers #Tritium #SWTCH #OCPP #electricvehicles #zeroemission #chargingstations #NRCAN #Canada #Climate #electrification #Squamish @ Squamish, British Columbia
It's been a great project to work on with SWTCH
As electric vehicles are rapidly increasing, so are the options for the charging infrastructure. It is a great time to write a piece about the fast-growing amount of options when it's time to consider connecting smart charging devices. We've shared our thoughts on the differences between the networking options available: OCPP and Proprietary network.
C'est le temps de relancer l'économie. Il est important de connaître quels secteurs créent le plus d'emploi. https://www.journaldequebec.com//pour-des-emplois-de-quali
Despite everything, not all projects have come to a halt. Thanks to Jary to keep everything on time. New Tritium DCFC coming in Squamish getting ready for shipment. Stations will be powered by SWTCH proving that #OCPP is a viable option. Thanks to @Natural Resources Canada to be supporting this and many other DCFC projects.
Great article from CBC and Don Pitties. I am typically not a fan of general media covering EV news as they seem to confuse the public by misinterpreting information but this one is well done.
Come see us tomorrow at the SquamishCAN event hosted at the Northyards Cider Co.. See you there!
Many people have asked me about the purpose of public EV charging stations if most people can charge at home. Read the article for the elaborate answer. Here is the short version: * Many people park on the street in urban areas (garage orphans) * Not all older building can be retrofitted to support the necessary electrical upgrade... * The rise in used EV market sales * Public level 2 and level 3 (DCFC) will play a major role in the EV charging habits * Charging stations become a daily/weekly routine hub See more
