We all have a state of mental health, and we will all struggle differently at various times in our lives with our mental well-being. We need to be kinder, more ...supportive, and more compassionate in this too often judgemental world. We need to show more love and understanding not only to others but to ourselves and to our minds. Be kind to your mind and remember that you are doing your best right now despite the setbacks this year has brought you. 2020 is a year of challenges and change and it is a journey, not a destination. Now more than ever we need to remember that our mental health is just as important as our physical health and that the most important relationship we have is the one we have with ourselves. #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealth #bekind

Energy is the currency of life and we all know the impact our energy levels have on our lives and our riding. When we're feeling healthy and happy we begin to b...elieve we can conquer the world. However, when we are tired, run down and worn out everything becomes so much harder to achieve. Too often the simplest tasks become the most challenging to complete. Our patience can be almost non-existent alongside very little room for anything requiring will power. So how do you go from doing things naturally in a state of calm to becoming wreckless, clumpsy and irritable? I like the way James Clear puts it, is to think of our health and energy as a bucket of water. There are things that fill our bucket and things that drain it and the key is to constantly keep it in check and never let it get too low. Naturally in life, there are a lot of things that can drain us. In fact, most people will be involved in daily tasks that drain you. Being productive and hard-working means that you will often be involved in activities that will take your energy away. That is why it is so important to constantly be aware of your state. How full is your bucket? If you notice it getting low, make sure to set time aside for those things in your life that replenish you. Things like rest, sleep, good nutrition, quiet time/meditation, laughter, alone time, nature and of course time with your horse are all great ways to help fill you up and keep you thriving. https://dressageridertraining.com/bl/keep-your-bucket-full/

If you give your child a pony, they will want to ride. You’ll buy them the best pony you can find, followed by a hat, boots and all the other things pony. You look for a local stables to ride at where you start to socialise with the horsey community...and then life as you know it, will end. Before you know it, they want to go to shows so you join BS there will be no more lazy weekends watching TV. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. ... Every spare minute of your time will be spent driving horseboxes and enduring a crazy addiction to practice for the next show. Your house may be a mess, and your car will be dirty. All because you gave your child a pony. Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold up chair. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, learning new skills and having fun and getting dirty!!!! You will be there the day he or she takes the first few steps of canter, the first taste of a jump, first rosette, first win. And they will make you SO proud. Other parents will congratulate you, but you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you on the pony, it’s your child. It's everything that they did, they achieved. And right before your eyes, your little boy/girl will be transformed from the baby who bounced around on their rocking horse into an exceptional young horse enthusiast on the hunt for the next HOYS ticket or maybe even the Olympics! When you give your child a pony, you give them more than just something to ride. You give them a sport, a talent, hope and dreams. Friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where they can push their limits, and bravery, and courage, and memories. And they will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave your child a pony. Because you gave your child a pony, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the sport. You will have an equestrian family because you gave your child a pony. Then one day, many years from todaythey will be in their room and a certain trophy will catch their eye. And they will pick it up and realise instantly that when you gave them a pony, you also gave them a childhood that they would never forget. At this point, you realise that everything you gave up along the way and sacrificed was totally worth it.. All because you gave your child a pony...

Let your children fall in love with horses. Let them learn the value of hard work, that good things take time and effort. Let them learn how to fall, how to pic...k themselves up, dust themselves off and get back in the saddle. Let them learn discipline and dedication, that even though it's raining, cold or snowing, horses still need to be cared for and when you make a commitment, you stick to it. Let them learn how to cope with heartbreak and loss, that life can be fleeting and fragile and that sometimes the right decisions are not always the easy ones. Let them learn that there will always be someone with more, but that hard work can get you just as far, even if it takes a little longer. Let them learn than happiness does not always come from the most expensive extravagant things, but sometimes from the little, seemingly insignificant moments. Let them learn that no matter how un-attainable a dream may seem that passion (and a bit more leg) can go a long way. Let your children fall in love with horses, because they will learn lessons in the saddle that no school could ever teach.

Well this boy didn’t last long. Congratulations to Brandy on the purchase of Slater, he made his way into all of our hearts and I am happy that he sold into the barn.
