Clear snow from your car or face fine, Ontario police remind drivers If you can't see out one of your car's windows, you could see a $110 ticket by Coleman Molnar | 15 hours ago Failing to brush the snow from your vehicle isn’t just unsafe and unlawful, it’s outright un-Canadian!... Yet every year without fail there are those who neglect their patriotic chore, perhaps because they don’t have gloves or a brush, or maybe because they’re just lazy. In any case, it’s not good behaviour and it will earn you a fine if police spot it. OPP in Lambton County recently stopped a red Chevrolet Equinox SUV on Oil Heritage Road for driving with an obstructed view. A photo taken by police shows snow and ice covering the majority of the car’s windscreen, which has neither been scraped nor left to thaw long enough to melt the ice and get the wipers moving. #LambtonOPP want to remind motorists to #SeeAndBeSeen, the Tweet reads. Clear your vehicle of snow and ice or face a $110 fine. And it’s not just your windshield that needs to be clear of the white stuff before you set off, either. Another Ontario driver this one stopped in Burlington was recently handed the same fine for having snow piled on the rear of their car, obstructing the back window. Snow or ice on the roof or body of the car can also be considered an unsafe load as it may dangerously fly off while on the road, so make sure you use a brush that’s long enough to get at the whole vehicle.

So update to our previous post. We are looking to setup a virtual or digital classroom and looking for some input as to what students would like better or just comments as to how they feel with this option. We are also working on getting students back in the car in the next week or so and as we have explained before looking for a safe way to do that. In the process of purchasing hand sanitizer, masks/shields as well as gloves. These are apparently items that are going to be a bit difficult to find during these times. If you have any connections or suggestions please let us know. Thank you all for your patience. Please continue to be safe for you and your family as well as mine.

We are officially in Phase 3. Looking at all our options to resume in car as soon as possible with safety in mind. Safe for our students of all ages and for the instructor. Stay tuned for our official reopening. I know that some driving schools have reopened but have done so for economical reasons and as much as I would like to be back working, we have to do this in a safe manner. Thank you all for your patience and stay safe.

In times like this we learn to appreciate the small things in life. Say a prayer, take a deep breathe and just keep walking through this time. It will be better, we just have to stay safe and give it time. Happy New Year to all my students and their families. Wishing better things ahead for all. We are still here, you can call or e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.

"Based on the advice of Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, all full-time DriveTest Centres and part-time Travel Point locations will be closed. The closures will take effect March 23, 2020 until further notice. The decision to close was the result of a mutual agreement between the government and service provider. We at Leamington school of motoring will follow that advice and close for all in class and in car session. Students c...an rest assured they will not lose ANY in car lessons or their certification thru the MTO. We have a responsibility to students and their families to ensure that we take every possible step to enable social distancing and prevent the spread of COVID Please be safe and be considerate to the people around you. So just to clear things up, we are unable to be in car with students for the time being. We will continue with in car once the lock down is lifted. Students can start and also continue their online portion of the driver training program. Also, the road tests for anyone in this area going to Chatham is automatically cancelled until the lock down is lifted. Its tough for all involved but not much we can do except keep ourselves safe and healthy. ... I wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday.

The Ontario government is cancelling all in-vehicle road tests at the Windsor DriveTest centre. The province also says people in lockdown areas including the City of Windsor and Essex County are also now prohibited from taking a road test at a DriveTest centre in another region, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They say if people living in lockdown regions have a road test booked in a different region, it will need to be cancelled, and that DriveTest will not h...onour road test appointments booked by residents from lockdown regions. We know that these measures may be a serious inconvenience for people waiting for a road test, said Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation. However, these are unprecedented times and our number one priority remains the protection of the health and safety of individuals, families and workers. The province says road test cancellations in lockdown regions are without penalty and customers will receive a credit in the system so they may rebook their test when their region moves to a lower COVID-19 level. The Ministry of Transportation says DriveTest centres in lockdown regions will be open for indoor services, such as knowledge tests, with capacity limits and COVID-19 preventative measures in place.

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn More You shouldn’t be seeing anyone from Toronto at the road test centre in Chatham. The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) recently ordered all DriveTest Centres to stop booking road tests from COVID-19 lockdown zones. Effective November 30, 2020, applicants who reside in Grey level or lockdown regions may not book a road test at a DriveTest Centre in a different region with a lower COVID-19 level. Effective November 23, 2020, all road tests at the Brampton, Downsview, Etobicoke, Metro East, Mississauga and Port Union DriveTest Centres were also cancelled without penalty. If you live in the Grey (Lockdown) level and try to attend a DriveTest location for a road test outside of your COVID-19 level, you will be turned away, said the ministry in the notice. Inside services at these centres continue with capacity restrictions and COVID-19 preventative measures in place. The MTO also said all applicants who recently changed their address from a location in the Grey (Lockdown) level will be required to show proof of residency. DriveTest Centres offer driver licensing and examination services, such as knowledge tests and road tests, on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation. Toronto and Peel Region remain in lockdown. Windsor-Essex remains in the Red-Control level and London and Middlesex County are in the Orange-Restrict level. Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton sit in the Yellow-Protect level.

Well there are sad times and new times, its one of those for us here at Leamington School of Motoring. Last Saturday we gave up our classroom location of 22 years and said goodbye to the stairs. Our students know what that means... We have done what we consider to be the safest course of action due to the Covid-19 situation. We have a digital in class program that we have adopted. We have reviewed a number of programs out there and chose t...he best we could find for our future students. Its a flexible program that involves the student and educates in the proper manner. As of today, we are active and enrolling new drivers. I will miss the in class teaching which over the years I have been able to learn and improve for my students. I enjoyed the connection with the students and the conversations about driving, it will be missed. As of this morning students are able to enrol and complete the program at home and at their own pace. Once completed they can begin the in car portion of the program with a certified driving instructor and that would be me. Feel free to contact us with any questions about the program or if its time for you to enrol. These are new times for all of us and we at Leamington School of Motoring are just trying to find the safest way to continue doing what we have always been doing, teaching drivers of all ages how to be the best drivers out there. Stay safe out there in whatever you do and remember as always... "Your Safe Driving Begins With Us"
