Our family has had a vegetable garden for about 15 years. I absolutely love it!! This weekend we finally got a new trellis built and put up for the cucumbers! They will be climbing fast after all this rain! Tomatoes got a good trim too. Some tips for your tomatoes: - snap off excess leafy branches starting at the bottom to allow more growth, and nutrients to get to tomatoes - if you have clusters of tomatoes on one stem, remove the smallest to leave only two or three this way... you will get bigger tomatoes - remove "suckers" these grow in between two stems and should be removed promote a healthy plant - regularly turn your soil to loosen it up. - lastly, make sure to share with your neighbours when it is harvest time! I leave lots of space between my plants to make it easy to move around them to trim and pick! Also allows the sun to get to them and space to grow big! See more
