Shop owners are asserting that the government failed to follow its own procedure for banning firearms. In addition, the shop owners allege a raft of consititutional violations. Finally, the shop owners allege the government violated Parliamentary convention. Fertile ground for litigation.

Another court case, this time from Ohio, where the court ruled that the government went too far in closing businesses. The court ruled that a gym could stay open as long as it complied with reasonable safety requirements.

While American constitutional law and Canadian constitutional law are not the same, there are certainly similarities. When the government takes away your rights, the government must prove why it's necessary to take away your rights. The government must also impair your rights as little as possible. In the "Barber Shop Case" the government failed to prove these 2 points. This failure means that the barber shop had the right to stay open, in defiance of government-imposed lockdown orders. To my knowledge, no one in Canada has attempted a similar court challenge.
