Merry Christmas to everyone, and Happy Holidays! We hope you are enjoying this time with your loved ones. We will be closed for in person training until at least January 23rd, 2021 or whenever the Ontario Government/Region of Waterloo decide to take us out of lockdown. This measure is just one more attack on small businesses who like us, had very little or nothing to do with the spread of Covid19 to our most vulnerable. We reopened July 9th following strict health and cleanin...g protocols and since then have had zero cases while running both kids and adult classes. While in lockdown we will be offering online classes starting January 4, 2021 to both kids and adults. If you need anything in order to train from home for a few weeks please let us know. An email will be going out to all of our members with more details. Stay sane and healthy. Last night my amazing team of students surprised me with an unexpected gift for the Academy and a great friend visited us as well. It was the first time he got to see what we built since first opening this location back in Feb/March (and had to shut down after 15 days being open). I was filled with joy and emotion! It's been a rollercoaster year, but we've managed to survive while others were not as fortunate. As a community, we need to come together to support each other thr...ough times of crisis instead of turning against our pillars - community and "family" (the people who are there for us, and we are there for them, not only those related to us by blood). There is a phrase that we used in Human Resources that says: Culture eats policy for breakfast 100% of the time. As a small business owner, I can say that we've been roasted, stomped on, and left out in the cold by our elected officials and bureaucrats regardless of political party. However, what kept me going were the People. If it wasn't for each and every one of our Academy's members (and families) helping us during these difficult times, and providing me with the emotional support to keep on moving, I don't believe we would still be here as a business and a "Place". We went from 0 to over 60 members in 4 months of operation, with restriction after restriction being imposed on us. Each round of restrictions with less notice and more silly and harmful measures that have no backing in science or the public interest. Yet, we are still here. Receiving such a wonderful gift from our members and their support and love motivated me even more to fight for our survival - through 2020 and into 2021 and beyond. How is everyone enjoying the snow in Kitchener? We would like to inform everyone in our community that we will not be accepting new members or trials until January 2021. We make this decision with a heavy heart, but believe it is the right way to maintain our commitment to our members and their families given the government's arbitrary measures that vilify small business, and places of health and wellness, while big box stores and large corporations continue to operate.
