Arnie and His School Tools is a book that I believe belongs in every classroom. Scroll through to see a few pages and you’ll quickly see why. I always read this the first week of school and continued to read it and refer to it throughout the year. We had many tools in my classroom that kids got to try on and use and see if it worked for them. I believed it helped to normalize and hopefully foster an inclusive environment for the children. I always made sure there were enough wiggle cushions or tools for the kids that truly needed it and extras for kids who also enjoyed using the tools, but didn’t necessarily require the tools. I believe I had to order this through chapters. Check it out if you haven’t read it! #learningwithmrslerner #teachersofinstagram #bookstagram @jenniferveenendaal

What is your writing and colouring organization like in your house? Any tips or items that I missed here? This is our school bin set up. This is pretty similar to what I used in my kindergarten classrooms on each table for children to share. We store this on top of our small craft bin so my 4 year old daughter has access to this. This sets her up to be independent and is very helpful since I’m often distracted by our very active and curious 1 year old. * Markers... * Crayons * Pencil crayons * Scissors * Pencil * Bingo dabber * Glue * Dry erase markers Most of these items were from the dollar store or Walmart. I also added some old cups to help sort things a bit easier. #learning with mrslerner #teachersofinstagram #kidsorganization

@michaelsstores has teacher grab bags! Every location is different, I was super surprised to see these at my location since I thought their back to school selection was a bit low originally. It was like Christmas seeing all of those bags!! I’m currently on mat leave, so I’m putting most of these in storage with my classroom belongings. However, I have a 4 year old who will be super happy to get her hands on these colouring kits. I’m also loving the Happy Planner pouches!! Definitely my favourite grab bag! Thanks @clearthemaple for the heads up. She has so many great tips and deals on her account all the time.

This is a different take on @missjaneofalltrades idea with @postit notes. My daughter knows her letters pretty well so I thought we could try some words. She is so proud of herself that she can read and sound words out! I also chose words that we could use again to make sentences. (I see a bat, I see mommy etc.) #tickettocoffee #postitnotes #learningwithmrslerner

In our house we take Halloween seriously! Well, it’s really more of my husband’s thing. He loves to decorate the yard every year. This year I’m being organized and did a Dollarama Halloween haul to put together sensory bins and getting inspiration to create a learning kit with fine motor, numeracy and literacy activities. #learningwithmrslerner #halloween #dollarama #dollaramacanada

Our first ever attempt at melted crayons. My daughter is counting down the days until winter so she chose a lot of Christmas cookie cutters for this. We used up all of our @crayola_canada crayons. 1. Peel crayons and break 2. Place in baking dish (we used an 8x8) 3. Place in oven for 10-15 at 350 F... 4. Place cookie cutters in and let stand for 20 minutes to cool 5. Place in freezer for 20 minutes 6. Flip pan upside down and pop out crayons #learningwithmrslerner #meltedcrayons #crayola
