This week is Small Business Week. Did you know that small businesses in Alberta and Calgary are having a tremendous impact on our economy? In fact, in Calgary alone, small businesses accounts for more than 95% of total businesses, with most having between one and four employees. Please strongly consider supporting local businesses that have a profound impact on our local economy. In my field, it often means not hiring the "star trainer or presenter" from Australia, but to loo...k for local companies that can provide as good a service and often without the extensive costs of travelling and lodging. As entrepreneurs, it is important to rely on peers to support and encourage us to develop strong business acumen. I am proud to belong to a peer mentoring group with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. After almost three weeks of vacationing with my family in three U.S. states, it is time to hit the office again, re-energized and open to where my business will take me in the next year. We can't grow if we stay comfortably sitting in our living rooms.... -IQ and personality are static, EQ can grow and evolve. -We all deal with emotions differently.
