Club Will be Opening We finally have some good news. The club received notice today that, as of Tuesday, July 21st, we will be permitted to access the community centre and, therefore, we will have a club house.... The board held an emergency meeting this evening and voted to take back the courts from the city and revert the courts back as LEASIDE TENNIS CLUB. We will be meeting with the city on Monday, July 20th to go over the protocol we need to have in place. We are targeting Wednesday, July 22 as an opening date but we could be in as early as Tuesday. Additionally, it was announced, city wide, that doubles play is now allowed. We want to thank you all for your patience in this unprecedented time and to assure you that the board continues to have the members and staff welfare as top priority. Stay tuned for more good news to come.

Courts Opening We are pleased to announce the city has set up the nets and opened the gates for public play. We made this decision to open in this form so that everyone could play tennis, however, it was not our first choice. As soon as we are able to get access to the club house, the board will review the opportunity to revert back to a club. Once we get a clear understanding of whether we are able to open as a club or not, we will then review the issue of providing credits,... and or reimbursement of fees. Although we would like everyone to recognize the fact that even though the club is not open, we are still incurring fees and costs. Thank you in advance for your patience during this time period, and please get out and enjoy the courts. Regards , L.T.C Board Members
Club Reopening Update The Good and the Bad news May 14, 2020 I’m sure by now everyone has heard the news from the Provincial Government about tennis clubs reopening on May 19th.... However, it is unlikely that we will be able to open on May 19th because the City of Toronto must first issue our permit and provide public health guidelines to safely reopen. We know that this is currently being discussed and have been told that this process may take a while. The safety of our members and community is of the utmost importance to us as we all face these difficult times. We will provide you with more information as it become available. LTC Board of Directors
Member Update The Board continues to meet virtually to discuss options, including Public Play We are developing an online COVID19 waiver that all participating members must agree to in order to play... We have implemented and tested an online member court booking function We have purchased PPE for our staff We continue to encourage the city (through staff and our city Councilor) to let us use the clubhouse ( a pre-condition for an LTC opening) Our latest permit specifies access to the clubhouse on June 29th (subject to change) We have contacted court supervisors willing to work Before opening we need to document and train staff in the new protocols We are also reaching out the Tennis Toronto Association, OTA, and other local Community Tennis Clubs. Using that information to ensure that when, we hopefully open, we do so safely. It is too earlier to speculate on adjustments to annual dues. The Board will address this issue before the next Members meeting.

Province of Ontario Announces that tennis clubs can open on Tuesday May 19 This is great news, but we are unsure what this means just yet. So ... hang onto your... hats. More information will be coming soon. We want to be sure that our members are safe and we are adhering to all guidelines.
Town Hall Meeting on ZOOM. COVID - 19 has certainly changed how we are able to go about our daily lives. One area that we didnt expect was that the tennis cour...ts would be closed, but sadly this is our new reality. Since we are unable to meet I wanted to provide our club members an update on what we know and when we anticipate the club will be able to open. Id also like to communicate some of the new guidelines provided by Tennis Canada and restrictions that will/may be imposed upon the club in order to open. This will also allow me the opportunity to introduce Ivan Lauzon, the clubs new pro. Ivan will discuss with the members times and programs he is anticipating delivering, keeping in mind the restrictions that will be imposed by the City. We will be holding a Town Hall meeting on Thursday May 21st at 7 p.m. EST to provide updates on the current status of our Tennis Club. The Town Hall will be led by Tony Saunders. If you have specific questions that you want to have answered during the Town Hall, please email them to [email protected] by 9 p.m. on May 20th. Please add Town Hall Questions to the subject line. This email address will also be monitored during the Town Hall for additional questions to be submitted. Thank you, The Board Leaside Tennis Club Please check your emails for instructions on joining the ZOOM call.

CLUB OPENING DELAYED The City has mandated that all community tennis clubs must remain closed until June 30th to help slow the spread of COVID-19. We know it is an exceedingly difficult time, and we hope that you and your family members stay safe and healthy. ... We will email you with any updates as we receive them from the city.
