Back in the 1970's when I was a young teenager, I was excited when vacationing in New Brunswick, Canada to be able to visit this century old harness shop. The owner allowed me to sit in the shop area on the hay and watch one of the workers who was stuffing horse collars. Is this leash for a giraffe or a dog? Wow it is long! This custom made 15 foot leather leash is for a customer of ours in Connecticut who is using it for dog training. To get the length required, the leather ends were woven though a solid brass O ring to connect the two lengths of leather. Although we are a custom leather shop and not a repair shop, sometimes we do accommodate leather repairs. This is an interesting hanging chair that needed the leather corners replaced that supports the hanging fabric seat. We cut new leather corners, dyed, oiled, polished, glued and sewed them to the fabric for a strong joint. Once in awhile, we get requests to make the leather seat portion to replace the old material that has torn on these antique rocking chairs. We can't match the original but do decorate the new leather seat with circular designs using our leather hand tools. Our customers attach the leather to the wooden rocking chairs themselves. Emily holds a very long money belt with an extremely long zipper money compartment. We can make any belt size and the larger the belt size, the longer the zipper pocket. We run the zipper as long as we can from one end close to the buckle rivets to the other end near the holes. You can see the small hand tool that she used to hand emboss the leather belt. Jamie is setting some solid brass snaps in this personalized leather axe case that he just finished today. An old shoe avil is used as a solid base for setting the snaps on. The customer said the axe has been in the family for 80 -100 years and wanted a custom leather case made to give to his son with the axe. Solid brass snaps were used as they will not rust if they get wet.
