Plastic waste is an ongoing concern here in Canada and around the world. Because of the need to wear masks most places we go, we have been seeing an overwhelmin...g amount of single use, disposable masks that are not being disposed of properly. Masks are being littered which poses as a serious health threat to public cleaners or children who might accidentally touch them. We must all work together and do our part and dispose of our masks properly by cutting or ripping the straps and putting them in a closed garbage can. #maskdisposalawareness #healthcanada #albertahealth

As Edmontonians continue to navigate the new mandatory mask law for indoor public spaces, a local study conducted by the University of Alberta suggests that mor...e Canadians are embracing the use of face masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The U of A study, conducted by Dr. Heather Young-Leslie and Ph.D. candidate Doris Zhang, looks at differences in perceptions of masks between Asian and non-Asian Canadians. It assesses the cultural differences in the psychological perception of wearing a mask, and how over time more Canadians are acknowledging the benefits of the mask rather than retreating to their preconceived biases.
