Like many Canadians, in the last two years I faced cancer diagnoses. My illness left me immunocompromised, leaving me susceptible to infectious diseases. I have received many treatments and vaccinations but getting my Moderna COVID-19 vaccine today was the most emotional. I am thankful for all my vaccinations and for the health care workers who have helped to save my life.

Comme de nombreux Canadiens, j'ai dû faire face à des diagnostics de cancer au cours des deux dernières années. Ma maladie m'a laissé immunodéprimé, ce qui me rend vulnérable aux maladies infectieuses. J'ai reçu de nombreux traitements et vaccins, mais recevoir mon vaccin Moderna contre la COVID-19 aujourd'hui a été particulièrement émouvant. Je suis reconnaissant pour tous mes vaccins et pour les professionnels de la santé qui ont contribué à me sauver la vie.

Notre gouvernement fédéral veut offrir plus de stabilité financière aux personnes qui ont perdu leur emploi. I know how hard the pandemic has been for many workers, including here in Atlantic Canada. Our federal government wants to provide more financial certainty to people who are out of work in these exceptional times. Starting tomorrow and up to September 2021, people who are applying for employment insurance benefits will be paid for their first week of unemployment. This includes claimants of regular, fishing and special benefits.
