An update from Sharon Reichert on the ADFA One Act Festival Yellowhead Region: The board of the Alberta Drama Festival Association held our regular meeting on Saturday, Jan. 16 and came up with a plan to proceed with festivals in 2021. As things stand now, regional reps are encouraged to continue taking registrations and planning regional festivals. The provincial festival is scheduled for May 28-29 at the Bailey Theatre in Camrose.... Our Yellowhead Regional One Act Festival is set to take place April 30-May 1 at the Devon Community Hall. Both of these dates are to be considered tentative at this time and locations may also change due to Covid restrictions. The board fully understands that people may still be nervous about Covid 19 and we are also fully aware that the situation in our province could change at any time. As much as we want to go ahead with regionals and the provincial festival, we need to have a plan in place to abort this season with minimal repercussions. This means we needed a 'drop dead' deadline date when we need to decide whether or not to go ahead with provincials. We have set February 27 as our date to make the final decision. All that to say, if you are planning to enter a one act in the Yellowhead Festival this year, I need to hear from you no later than Friday, February 26. I know we had at least five groups intending to enter last year and I would love to have all of you back! You can still have until March 15 to get your formal entries and fees in but I need to know by end of February if we have enough entries to stage our own festival. I am happy to answer any questions you might have (to the best of my ability). Post them on this page (Yellowhead Region - ADFA Festival) publicly or message me (Sharon Reichert) directly, if you prefer. Also, we have a new ADFA website. I haven't updated the Yellowhead page yet but plan to do so over the next few days. I am hoping to add a little bit of regional history so if you have some pics of past festivals, please send them to me with as much info as you can provide.
