This week we learned of the passing of another treasured member of the skating community. Norm Hale left us on December 7, 2020. His family made the sad annou...ncement on Facebook. Most of us knew Norm from his many, many years in the skate department at United Cycle, and at the UC booth at competitions. There have been countless mentions of memories of Norm as a devoted skating dad and volunteer, as well as a favorite fixture at the skate shop. He was a master at his craft, but when you went to see Norm for your skates, you also got a friendly smile, some conversation, and it was more like a visit with an old friend. He is described as a selfless soul, a kind spirit, thoughtful and giving to others. Section was always honored when Norm’s schedule allowed him to attend our Annual Awards banquets to present the Shantell Hale Award, and we will hold these memories close. Norm’s contributions to the skating community were huge, and he will be deeply missed. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends at this very difficult time.

Good Evening LFSC Families, November 24th Jason Kenney announced that there will be no team or individual sports as part of the enhanced restrictions, with a re-evaluation on December 15, 2020. Our Fall 2020 season's last skating day is December 18, 2020.... Unfortunately, as a result of these enhanced restrictions, we will be cancelling ALL classes until January 2021. We remain hopeful that these new mandatory public health measures will help to "stop the spike" and will allow us to resume classes for our Winter session. We are working towards being able to open registration for our group classes (Parent & Tot, CanSkate and CanPower) in the coming weeks, dependent on current and potential future restrictions. We truly appreciate your understanding as we work tirelessly to ensure the safety of our Club's staff, volunteers and skaters. This is truly a unprecedented time. **CANCELLED CLASSES NOVEMBER 13th - 27th** Good Afternoon Leduc Figure Skating Club Families, Following the provincial announcement of the 2 week ban on indoor group fitness classes and team sports yesterday for Edmonton and surrounding areas, LFSC will be cancelling all skating sessions, from November 13th to November 27th, inclusive. If allowed, classes will resume as scheduled on Saturday, November 28th.... We know that this is not an ideal situation for anyone, however LFSC is committed to ensuring that our skaters, coaches and volunteers remain safe and healthy throughout the season. The Purdys Chocolate fundraiser will proceed as planned, with all online orders due on November 25, 2020.
