Leduc Branch 108 of The Royal Canadian Legion is proud to support this initiative. For more information, refer to http://fenety.com/legion.htm. Submission forms are available at the Branch. December 8, 2020 Dear members and friends, Effective December 13, 2020, the in-person dining and lounge area will be closed, as we did in March 2020. ... The Legion is still here for you through these enhanced public health measures once again. Our mission is to support Veterans, their families and the community; and that is exactly what we are going to do! - We are changing back to remote operations to protect everyone from possible community transfer of COVID-19 virus. - Service Officers are available via telephone and video conferencing. I have also asked them once again to contact all veterans, especially the elderly, to check in and see how you are doing especially as we approach the holidays; - Veterans and family can also contact service officers for support by emailing [email protected] or by phone at 780-986-1455; - Membership questions will still be addressed. Please email [email protected]. Thankfully, we can answer most questions by logging into an online system; - Take out/delivery food and beverage services are available to Legion and community members. This includes Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve. Order by Dec 20th for these dates. Menu items and prices are on a separate post. Murphy’s will also post regular menu selections and prices; - OSI/CAN ASK peer support group meetings will be held virtually. Please contact Service Officers or the OSI-CAN ASK facilitators for remote peer support; - Other in-person events are postponed until the all clear is issued by the provincial chief medical officer. Please reach out if there is any support that we can provide remotely, and safely. We are here for our Veterans, their families and the community. Please do what you can to keep yourself, and the community, free from COVID-19 community transmissions, safe and healthy! ~Lynda Cuppens Branch President

Leduc Legion Branch No. 108 16.09.2020

2020 Poppy Campaign The Poppy Campaign officially commences each year across Canada on the last Friday in October, until Remembrance Day. This year, the Poppy Campaign is October 30 through November 11. As the national symbol of Remembrance, the red poppy represents the ongoing thankfulness Canadians have for all fallen military and RCMP Veterans.... Funds donated in Leduc and Leduc County during the Poppy Campaign are saved in a Trust Fund, and distributed locally to help support Veterans and their families, communities and to promote Remembrance, in strict accordance with the Poppy Manual. New this year, we have applied QRL barcodes to the poppy boxes, so that donations may be electronically deposited into the Trust Fund. Cash donations may still be made into the poppy boxes. Remembrance Day Each year on November 11, We Remember the sacrifices that have been made on behalf of the democracy that we enjoy. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Leduc and Leduc County Remembrance Day Ceremony will be broadcast online, rather than held in-person at the Leduc Recreation Centre. The link to the broadcast will be made available on the Leduc Branch 108 and City of Leduc websites and FaceBook pages in the coming days. Broadcasting the event provides the community with an opportunity to participate in Remembrance Day, while helping keep everyone safe and healthy by preventing community transmission of the coronavirus. I encourage everyone to connect into the Ceremony, and to stand at 11:00 a.m., on the 11th day of the 11th month, to Remember the Fallen, and the sacrifices they made for our freedom. Lest We Forget.

Leduc Legion Branch No. 108 02.09.2020

Thanks Staples Stores #Leduc for assistance printing the new QRL codes for the poppy boxes! This group worked through adversity with systems crashing, and then down, and back up again to make this happen, and did it all today, with great attitudes and patience. You rock! These QRL codes provide a way to donate electronically when you pick up a poppy during the Poppy Campaign commencing October 30th. Funds from electronic donations will be deposited directly into the local Poppy Trust Fund, to support local Veterans in Leduc and eastern Leduc County, including Beaumont, Nisku and New Sarepta.

Leduc Legion Branch No. 108 27.08.2020

Wearing a #Poppy honours the memory of our #Veterans and their ultimate sacrifice. On October 30, look for our poppy boxes with QRL codes on them! Funds donated are deposited into the local Poppy Trust Fund to support Veterans in #Leduc and #LeducCounty. #LestWeForget

Six years ago, a terrorist took the life of Corporal Nathan Cirillo. Today we honour his memory and offer our condolences to his family. We are also appreciativ...e of the bravery of the Parliamentary Protective Service and RCMP officers who prevented further loss of innocent life. As Speaker at the time, I had the profound honour of thanking the first responders. Below, I am shaking hands with Constable Samearn Son, who was shot by the attacker. See more
