THE JOHN HALL FRAME In the infancy of the 20th Century, John Hall of Pasadena CA, house and furniture maker, made a frame for a family mirror. It steps down in board thickness from top to bottom. I believe the shapes were inspired by the appearance of stage curtains. In those days most public entertainment was live and performed on stage. In 2008, I had the privilege of seeing the original frame, now owned by grand-nephew Gary Hall of Seattle WA. Each member of the family has one of these frames and ours is proudly home of a family reunion photo.

We decided the Shop needed a bit of dressing up. Son Ian tore down the greenhouse which had been unused since the building was a nursery 20+ years ago. Then Dean Mancini closed the wall in and Gary Holmes put up the Legacy Woodcraft shop sign I made. We think it looks much better and our helpers made it possible.

An excellent Christmas present for your favorite baker: a Celtic Knot French Rolling Pin. The French rolling pin is often the preferred choice of professional bakers because there are no handles to get loose or rusty or to hide dough or flour. It is also much easier to clean than classic handled rollers. You can choose the roller itself for $85 or add a wall hanger to display this attractive kitchen accessory when not in use for an additional $25.

In order to keep dear wife Marilyn happy, I need to stay busy and out from underfoot. Now that our home is complete with all the improvements and accessories that I’ve made, I have decided to see if others would like to enhance their homes with unique items made here at Legacy Woodcraft in Sorrento. If you look at the albums in Photos you will see that I have made doors, cabinets, furniture and accessories for each room in the house. My primary focus is in the Craftsman era ...of the early 20th Century. I have also been privileged to participate twice in a biennial exhibit at the Robert Bateman Gallery in Victoria, BC called oneTree where all participants make projects from the same tree. I would appreciate those of you who are interested to follow my page and please share with those you think might be interested. I can be contacted through this page or at 250 515-0178.
