A Leak Can Prevent A Leak The cast iron piping systems used for early heating systems used hub and spigot joints that were made tight with a rust joint. Jute or cotton packing was tamped into the hub around the pipe, then a mixture of iron filings, sal ammoniac, and sulfur was puttied into the joint. This would harden into a cold weld, making the joint leakproof. Variations of the joint compound were used, one version using urine in the mix. It was found, by on-the-job experiments, that human urine made superior joints!

Gremlins under your kitchen sink? Don't worry - we've come across it all. Including this beauty that Kolton recently discovered. It was a tough sell to explain to this homeowner why that painters tape wasn't going to hold up. While we appreciate the ingenuity of some homeowners, sometimes these things are better left to the pros. We happily fixed up this situation and can sleep better knowing this client is not going to have any further leaking issues with this fixture! #MBsm...allbusiness #WPGsmallbusiness #plumbing #heating #boilers See more

You know it's officially cold out when Chad switches from a hat to a toque. It also means he gets serious about boiler repairs. We do repairs and start ups for all sizes of systems. This large steam boiler is one of our favourites. These old boilers are always dependable. Finding parts for them when the decide not to work can be difficult, but we've gotten pretty good at sourcing out the most obscure part to ensure that the buildings these service are never without heat for l...ong! #MBsmallbusiness #WPGsmallbusiness #plumbing #heating #boilers
