We are proud to announce that Segen Andemariam, LHC's articling student during 2019/20, received her Call to the Bar! Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal ceremony at this time, but we celebrate and congratulate her accomplishment all the same. Well done Segen!
Welcome to Heidi Dyck (on right, pictured with her principal, Senior Staff Lawyer, Nadia Rumore) who started as an articling student at LHC this week. We are happy to have her as part of our team!
It is time to thank all the volunteers who help during a crisis but also those that help on a day-to-day basis. LHC is grateful to the 100+ volunteers who share their time and expertise with us. These volunteers make a huge contribution and help us improve access to justice. THANK YOU! #NVW2020 #CheerstoVolunteers #A2J
Starting April 13, 2020, LHC will provide legal information and support by email or phone. Due to limited staff resources at this time, we may not be able to help in all areas of law. See the poster for more details or visit www.legalhelpcentre.ca
Drop-In Clinics will be canceled and LHC will be closed to the public until April 20, 2020 to reduce health risks related to COVID-19. The safety of our clients, staff, students, and volunteers is important. In the meantime, we will be working from home and responding to messages as soon as possible. We understand the impact of reduced services on the community and apologize for any inconvenience.. We are monitoring the situation closely and will communicate any changes or information on when normal services will resume.
Robson Hall students - always taking steps to improve the lives of others! Here they hope to raise awareness about the issues facing refugees and newcomers to Canada.
LHC has job opportunities for law school students (1L and 2L) for the summer. See: http://legalhelpcentre.ca/job-postings
Thank you to Vivene Salmon, CBA President, for visiting us today during our Drop-In Clinic. We are glad she was able to see the students and lawyers working together to solve people's legal and social issues.

At the MB Human Rights Awards, LHC was proud to be named the Honourable Mention for the Aaron Berg award, given to a person or organization involved in the legal profession that has contributed significantly to the advancement of human rights in MB. We acknowledge the contributions of all the current/former staff and volunteers in achieving this honour. LHC congratulates Sacha Paul, along with the other award winners. We attended the ceremony and left inspired by the strength, spirit and dedication of the award recipients.
Thanks to support from our Board of Directors, LHC staff were honoured to sit with Chief Justice Richard Wagner at the "Up Close and Personal" Historic Dinner with Justices of the SCC. He shares our commitment to improving access to justice!

Make your voice count.
Use the CBA's letter-writing tool https://www.cba.org/Federal-Elections/Take-Action to make access to justice an issue of importance in the upcoming election.
Our summer students are heading back to Robson Hall to continue their law school studies. We appreciate all their hard work and commitment to improving access to justice for LHC clients. We are sorry to see them go and wish our summer 2019 team all the best.
We are pleased to announce recent Robson Hall graduate Stefanie Reece as the winner of the 2019 Kim Clare Memorial Award. Stefanie demonstrated a strong commitment to access to justice. We thank her for her participation in all of LHC's programming and assisting deserving clients with navigating legal and social systems.
Danielle Magnifico, LHC's articling student, was called to the Bar this morning. So proud of her and while we will miss her, we wish her well in her practice at Boni Singbeil Stienstra LLP. She's pictured with Nadia Rumore, her principal lawyer at LHC.
