During the Poppy Campaign, we would like to introduce this year's bursary recipients. MATTHEW JANULEWICZ Matthew is attending Dawson College, studying social science with enriched math courses to later pursue a degree in Finance and Economics. As courses are online this semester Matthew gets to help his mother on the family farm and study from his home in Aberc...orn. Matthew’s great-great-grandfather was a sergeant with the seventh Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders of the British Army during the First World War, tragically dying in combat at the age of 35. The Birthday Committee of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 158 is proud to present $1061.00 to the École de Sutton Schools' Breakfast Program. Last year, Joyce Bailey, Roxanne Stastny and Sherri Bailey decided to raise funds, by selling half and half tickets during Friday night social night at the Sutton Legion, to finance a monthly birthday dinner event. The overwhelming success of the project permits us to donate funds to help the school with its breakfast program. Commit...tee chairperson Joyce Bailey said, ‘’When we heard that Vanessa Lauzon, Grade 3-4 teacher and Robyn Meyer, Grade 5-6 teacher were trying to start a breakfast program at the school we knew that this was where we wanted our funds to go. We believe that breakfast helps children start their day off right. The bus routes are long, and many homes have two parents that work making school mornings very hectic. A program like this can help children and their parents start the day off right. Left to Right: Vanessa Lauzon, Joyce Bailey, Sherri Bailey, Roxanne Stastny, Robyn Meyer. See more
