Veterans, I want to remind you that in spite of COVID-19 the legion is here for you. The poppy fund is secured for veterans in need. If you need help with a bill or groceries we are here for you. Just give us a call at 834-2331. There is not someone there every day but if you leave a message we'll get back to you.

It was a busy Coffee Morning Wednesday this week. We celebrated Pauline's & Dianne's birthdays and had a visit form one of our favourite sisters. Minnie Petten came to see us and we were thrilled. Veterans and members are invited for breakfast and comradeship every Wednesday at 10:00 am but everyone is welcome.

Ken McDonald, MP Avalon came to Coffee Morning today to announce that the Federal Government is giving us a $10,000 grant. Legions across Canada shared a 14 million dollar Federal grant as relief for struggling branches hit by the pandemic. Ken told us that five branches in his Avalon riding received grants. At Branch 50 we pay all of our bills through fund raising. With COVID -19 we haven't been able to rent out the hall for weddings, parties or have dances. We still have to pay insurance, electricity etc and we are struggling to stay on top of it all. If we have to shut down we can not be there to support veterans. This grant will make a big difference to us. We are thankful to our MP Ken McDonald and to the federal government for this assistance.

Many of us will spend time with our families over the holidays. Many of us may not. It would mean a lot to a deployed soldier to hear from someone back here. Pl...ease take the time to send your seasons greetings to this address. To Any Deployed Canadian Forces Member P.O. Box 5004 Stn Forces Belleville, ON K8N 5W6
