On November 11, the Afghanistan Memorial was unveiled on the grounds of Queen’s Park. It honours Canadian soldiers who served during the mission in Afghanistan and is beside the Ontario Veterans’ Memorial - a monument commemorating the participation of Ontarians in military campaigns from the 1860s to present day. The new memorial includes a bronze ribbon-like component and a stone - each with their own significance. The bronze ribbons symbolize the unfolding of Canadian involvement since 9/11and reflect the mountainous silhouette of the Afghanistan terrain. The stone comes from an Inukshuk dedicated to fallen soldiers that was originally erected by Canadian soldiers at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. https://bit.ly/32VrXAx
