The world lost another absolute gem last week. It’s always hard to say goodbye to very special people that I’ve worked closely with... it’s impossible not to get attached! So many great memories with my client Clive- our rapport was so special that everyone thought we were related. ... One fun memory was captured in the first picture, when I joked that I wanted him to work harder in his fitness warmup but I simultaneously ‘needed a break’. So I had him push me around the residence in his walker!! I’m happy to have known you You will be missed.

I know it can benefit a lot of people who want to get moving gently and carefully at home. ‘Listen to your body’. My clients know this is one of my favourite expressions. It has become our collective mantra. My job, as I see it, is partly to be able to intuitively tune in to what each individual can do THAT day. Some days we light it up and go all out! Some days we need to lay back. Every morning I wake up and write three things that I’m grateful for (which sometimes snowballs into more), three things that would make this day amazing, and a statement beginning with ‘I am’ that reminds me of my strengths and what I have to offer others. Wanna know something? My clients often make my gratitude list. Not only have I been able to do something I love for 17 years, but I tend to attract the gems. When private training, I seem to always be in the presence of an...other person who inspires me with their efforts, results, and way of being in the world. While I work with many inspiring younger people, working with seniors has been SUCH a gift and a JOY in my career. I aim to help them see what’s possible for themselves, and they in turn show me what’s possible over time and years. As a result, I’m not afraid of aging. I’ve seen so many beautiful, strong, gracious, wise, funny, kind, badass examples of what it means to be ‘older’. If you haven’t seen examples of that yourself, I urge you to look for role models for fitness and wellness in their 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and even triple digits! Trust me, they are out there.
